My husband and I started DogVacy together because we were looking for a better solution for our own pets when traveling. The thought of leaving our pups at a kennel was terrible, and sometimes it felt like a burden asking our friends/family to house sit. I know the treatment I want to provide for my companions, and aim to provide the same level of excellence for yours.
**A note about services I provide: In addition to boarding your pup in my home I offer check-ins and house sitting in the Anchorage and Wasilla areas. I also offer pick up and drop off services for your pup between Anchorage and Wasilla (and anywhere in between).**
I grew up working at a sanctuary rescuing abused and neglected animals. It was my primary responsibility to rehabilitate a variety of animals so that they were both physically healthy as well as patiently working to restore their trust. I lead numerous 4-H groups teaching children the importance of proper care and nutrition for animals. I am professionally trained to look for behavioral warning signs, provide emergency care, and provide a nurturing, safe, and happy environment for all animals in my charge.
Our home sits on 3/4 acre of land. The main living area is on the 1st floor, and it is 2 small steps down to the backyard (perfect for some of the more senior dogs). The backyard is fully fenced. There is no limit to outdoor playtime or potty breaks. We also have 2 cats who have a good temperament with dogs. If your dog does not get along with cats, or has never been around cats, please let me know. In most cases the cats will separate themselves to different levels of the home.
What I provide: A safe and clean home, stress free environment, feedings as scheduled, adequate play time, walks, exercise in a safe environment, administer medicine if needed, timely communication, photo updates, and always adhere to DogVacay terms and conditions
**I do provide services for puppies, however, they will need to be potty trained**
In order to provide you with the best service possible below are the tools I will need your help with:
*Food & feeding schedule
*Kennel - A kennel is a must. We DO NOT lock your pets in a kennel. Your pup is free to roam our home as if it were yours. A kennel is place they can recognize from home, and a space they can go to feel safe if they feel any anxiety in a new situation.
*What are your dog's Do's and Do NOT's? Are they food aggressive, do they love belly rubs, are they aggressive towards female/male dogs?
*Does your dog have allergies or need medicine?
*I will need to see a copy of current shot records
Please contact me ahead of time with any questions and for scheduling. I try to always keep my DogVacay calendar up to date, but it's best to confirm with me first. Also, please remember to leave time in advance to schedule a meet & great before your dog's stay if this is your first visit with us. I look forward to providing your family with excellent care!
