First, let me thank you for being a pet lover and for working to find your friend a loving, comfortable and puppy friendly home-away-from-home when you're away. It's so important for the emotional and social health of your pal.
I LOVE all animals, and as an 11 year Naval Aviation veteran (I used to fly the F/A-18C,E Hornet/Super Hornet off the USS Enterprise Aircraft Carrier), I know how difficult it can be to find reliable, friendly, responsible pet care. To many, dogvacay.com is a business, but to me, this is purely about love.
I moved to NYC a few months ago (June, 2015) after getting my MBA from Harvard Business School. I joined a firm that, incredibly, is in finance, but has massive positive social impact potential. The firm is Dynasty Financial Partners and is located at 55/6 in Midtown Manhattan.
When I moved here, I unfortunately had to let my best friend Elroy, a 7 year old boxer mix that I rescued from the Norfolk, VA SPCA after my second combat deployment, stay in MA where he got used to spending his days playing with his other best friend Toru, a big black lab. They live together with a very nice family (friends of my family) in a beautiful house with a big fenced in yard and close to many wooded trails and lakes. I just couldn't pull him away from that life so that I could have him here with me. It was a very difficult decision, but he comes to visit me often and I know he is as happy as can be.
The building I live in is very dog friendly, I live near central park and two fenced in dog parks along the East River Promenade. I'm very active, love nothing more than taking long walks with four legged friends. I do volunteer work with shelters and other agencies that need help caring for their animals. When I was in Texas, I spent 3 years nursing a beautiful pit bull back to health after Elroy and I found her on one of our runs. She was in rough shape; beaten, burned, covered in mange and starving. But, to what makes Molly so special, she still had a big smile on her face and a lot of love to give. When I left Texas, I found a family that wanted to care for her, and covered what I expected would be the cost of caring for her for the rest of her life. I get constant updates and she his doing great.
So, bottom line, if you want a person to watch your best friend the way that you would watch them, and feel confident and comfortable that your animal is getting all the love, attention, exercise, belly rubs, and pampering they could ever want, then it's your lucky day. My prices are low because I'm not doing this for the money. I simply miss having Elroy around all the time, and would love to help other dog lovers out.
I look forward to meeting you, but to be completely honest, I'm more excited about meeting your furry friend.
