Hello! We're Jason and Caitlin, two responsible young professionals who love dogs. We adopted our beagle mix, Dory, two years ago, and we started dog-sitting in 2015 because Caitlin wanted to get a second dog. Instead, we now have a rotating cast of friends, playmates and hiking buddies, which works better for our landlord. :)
While we both work 9-5 during the week (Jason is a project manager at the Department of Energy; Caitlin is a reporter at the Washington Post), it's really important to us that your dog gets a lot of exercise and attention during the workday. We generally take Dory on two lengthy walks -- one in the morning and one in the evening -- and give her a solid 30 or 40 minutes to run around in our building's fenced dog park when we get home. On weekends, we typically try to plan an active outing everyone can do: In the past, we've taken our canine guests (with their parents' permission!) to the Billy Goat Trail, Rock Creek Park, the Shirlington dog park, the Arboretum, and various local state parks and beaches.
Throughout all these adventures, we'll send you frequent photos of your pup and let you know how he's doing. We will also keep him supplied with a steady stream of organic homemade treats, which Caitlin makes every few days because she's a crazy dog lady.
Finally, while we never anticipate this happening, we have been doing this long enough that we know what to do if anything goes wrong or if your dog isn't feeling well. We have a vet on-call, in case of emergency, and ask that you leave us your vet's contact information as well. In the past, we have dealt with mishaps ranging from a puppy who arrived with chronic diarrhea to a boxer with severe seasonal and food allergies. (Have you ever tried to give a boxer eye drops? Trust us, we can handle anything.)
