About Tara

8 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
Hello! My name is Tara Shewmaker. I have recently decided to open up my home and time to take care of dogs! I am an in home care giver for my mother who does not require full time care. I have grown up with a house full of animals and recently spent time in South Carolina training and taking care of horses, I'm a natural animal lover. I have one dog at home that is elderly but still very active! He is a kind soul and even when dogs with aggressive behavior act out towards him he turns a blind eye! Let me know what your doggy needs are and I will do my best to accommodate you!

We can't imagine what we did before DogVacay and Tara! We love the peace of mind leaving our fur babies with Tara brings us. Thank you again!
Our pups always enjoy their time with "Aunt Tara"! Another wonderful experience!
Great experience! Terry was very easy to work with, and my dog got along very well with her. I will use her routinely.
Tara was amazing! She was so nice to let us meet the day before and it gave me such a peace of mind to ask questions and see where they would be staying. She sent photos throughout the day and was very positive even if the pups were a bit grumpy. She is very kind and genuinely loves creatures big and small. My pups seemed very relaxed to be there and if I'm ever in town again I'll know exactly where to go! Thank you again for your hospitality to my babies and treating them as your own!

Great experience for us to use Tara as our dogsitter. She worked with us on dates and times, she was so easy going about having our giant dog in her home, and you could tell she loved pets. Also sent me video and photo updates which is great when you are missing your animals. I could tell he had a blast! Would highly recommend.

Tara loved and cared for Pepe like he was her own. I'm not sure he wanted to come home. We've already booked another stay.
Our doberman and min pin had another wonderful weekend with Tara and Lucky! Tara is very accommodating when it comes to pick-up and drop-off times, and she is quick to respond to messages. When I leave our dog children with her, I know that she is continually making sure that they are happy, healthy and safe! (I really appreciate the photo messages she sends too! I love seeing my babies when I have to be away from them and the reassurance that they are having a great time!) We've had some not-so-great experiences with boarding our dogs in the past, and I cannot say enough positive things about how much better leaving our dogs with Tara has been--both for us and our dogs!

We were a little anxious leaving our two fur babies with anyone but family, but our dogs made themselves at home almost immediately upon meeting Tara, her family and her dog Lucky. This was our first experience with DogVacay, and we will definitely be repeat customers! Tara sent us messages and photos throughout the stay to let us know how our dogs were doing, and she really went above and beyond to make this fur mom feel comfortable with the entire process. When we picked our babies up on Sunday, they were happy and relaxed, like they'd been the ones on a weekend away!
