About Ed & Kathy

28 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
Hello, We are a 30 year old, married couple and owner to two amazing doggie-daughters: Bailey ( Shiba/ Husky) and Lilly Anna ( Shiba/ Retriever). We would say my favorite breed at the moment would be the Shiba Inu- mostly because two are a part of our family. But we love all types of dogs neither small or big!!!!!

My wife also worked as a Nanny/ Babysitter for the past 15 years with families that have pets and would care and take care of them on a daily basis.

We have two shiba inu/ mixes. Our oldest doggie daughter is 15 year old and she came to us because my cousin was moving to Arizona and we decided that we would take her in and foster her until they found a place that would accept dogs. Well in the process we learned that my cousins husband was abusing her and decided that it was time for us to take Lilly out of their home and my cousin was willing to do so. We have had Lilly for almost 6 years now and she is the most loving and kind dog ever. About a two years ago we got our youngest doggie daughter Bailey from a rescue- She was taken from a hoarders home and has been through a lot in the past couple years. We first got her and her front leg was broken and we healed her back to health. She was fully adopted a year and a half ago and she couldn't be the most sweetest dog ever!!!! We are glad to have her young energy in the house!!!!

Kathie took our 2 yr old lab in a such short notice when our regular sitter was in full capacity. He has been going to the same house previously for the past 2 years. It was such a relief when I found this warm and cozy house for our dear Ricky. My dog gets so nervous now a days and Kathie was really patient with him giving teddie and comforting him. When I picked him up, he was not eager to leave and was happy to stick around - that shows he liked the place. Thanks a lot Kathie. Ricky loves you :)

We used them last minute for an overnight stay. She was quick to accept the reservation and work out the details. Our dog enjoyed being with them.
Kathy was great for our old labrador. My dog had an accident inside the house on the carpet, and the way Kathy let me know, not making me worry, meant a lot to me. Thank you, and if Kathy would be willing to take care of our dog in the future, definitely we will use her service.

Tommy was so happy with his stay. Thanks,
Noodles was not cooperating with her potty breaks like she should, but Kathy seemed to be patience with her as she adjusted to new environment. Thank you Kathy and Ed for taking such good care of her. (no accidents since she's been home.)Yeah.
Kathy and Ed were very accommodating and made my last minute Chicago trip possible. They took great care of my exuberant, 45 lb pup. She was tired and happy when I picked her up. I would definitely got to Kathy and Ed next time I'm in town!
Kathy and Ed and their dogs were the perfect answer for my vacation. They took great care of my dog and kept me posted on her stay. I would definitely book all my dog vacations with them!! I have already recommended them to my friends. Their pups are sweet and mellow-- perfect match for my 10+ year old dog.

Kathy and Ed are always so flexible with the boarding our dog Riley. Our work schedules require last minute travel and with travel delayed flights usually come hand-in-hand. They have been understanding every time we've been late picking up Riley. It is so nice not to have to worry about Riley while we are traveling since we know Kathy and Ed take such good care of her. They have even washed her blanket before sending her home. It smelled so good I wanted to sleep with it!

Kathy and Ed were absolutely great taking care of our Doug for the week. Their updates and communications were current and concise from first contact to pick up. They were able to identify and resolve a minor first time around other unfamiliar dogs issue with true patience and understanding. I would recommend them to anyone needing quality and peace of mind dog watching. We will use their service again for certain.

Kathy and Ed were amazing hosts to our two girls! They were caring, responsive, and went above and beyond to make sure they were comfortable and loved during their stay. We have found our permanent hosts in these two for as long as they will have us. I highly recommend other pet parents consider using them for their stays.

Loved getting the pictures of Rex! He had a great time!
We are so happy we found Kathy through Dog Vacay. I know that our young puppy was well cared for the entire time. Kathy went above and beyond to make sure that our puppy felt at home, like letting her sleep in their bed and giving her a bath before we picked her up. We also loved the photo and video updates we received. We will absolutely contact Kathy again whenever we need a dogsitter.

Kathy did a great job caring for our Pepper. She was happy and comfortable and we'll cared for. It was our first time trying dog vacay and we will certainly use this service again....far better than other options.
Kathleen was an awesome dog host! Our Chloe was in excellent hands. We got a bunch of photo updates, which put our mind at ease. She was also, thankfully, able to accommodate us last minute. We look forward to having Kathleen host Chloe for future DogVacays!
