*MY POLICY & REQUIREMENTS:
1) I can only accept little dogs that are 15 pounds or less, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, clean, potty trained (used to regularly going potty outside instead of using indoor wee wee pad), current on flea prevention, crate trained (Each dog will be sleeping on a "doggie bed" inside his/her own crate at night), well-socialized with other well tempered dogs and people, non-aggressive, and not too dominant (or "alpha" temperament) for the sake of high compatibility with other little dogs.
2) I have two little "canine kids" at home. In order to give much individualized attention to each dog I accept, I take only one guest dog at a time. This is how I make sure each beloved pup that stays with me receives the highest standard of attention, care, and respect. (I may possibly make an exception for previous guest pooches).
3) More than two weeks of boarding will require a bath as an "add-on" for your dog (one bath for every 2 weeks), unless you have indicated to me a preference for no bath during your dog's stay, or your dog has a fear of bath. During bath and afterwards (blow drying), your dog will be handled with utmost gentleness and expertise. At no additional cost, I do a daily eye cleaning (with purified water, cotton pad, and eye comb) and a regular light combing &/or brushing for all long-haired breeds in order to prevent and minimize matting.
4) All pick-up/drop off must be scheduled in advance, and it must take place between 8am in the morning and 10pm at night. 10pm is our family's bedtime, and it's important for me to honor that. If you cannot pick up your pup by 10 pm, you'll need to board your baby an extra night and pick him/her up next day.
*DETAILED INFO ABOUT ME:
I specialize in training and caring for TOY and TEACUP breed dogs and puppies. Thus, I ONLY accept little dogs 15 pounds and under. Tiny dogs have numerous specialized needs that require extra caution, gentleness, a first-hand experience, and a specialized knowledge in regards to feeding and poison control (i.e., All foods that are toxic to dogs are far more toxic to tiny breeds), bathing, grooming, leash walking, playing, and socializing. For example, it's critical to protect them from objects, young or rough children or unaware adults, and bigger dogs -- as tiny dogs can easily get accidentally injured just because of their size.
Over the past 23 years, I have been a doggie parent to four little dogs ranging from 3.5 pounds to 15 pounds. I've raised each of them since they were puppies, and one of them came into my life with a terrible abuse history. She was in such horrible shape that we expected that this rescue would very well be a "hospice" case. I thought, well maybe we can at least help her to die in peace, surrounded by love. I dedicated myself in healing and rehabilitating this tiny abused pup, and within a year and a half, she has become the most trusting and sweetest dog ever. In fact, she is now on her way to giving even more love to the world as a therapy dog.
I am a devoted mother of two wonderful teens (13 yrs old daughter & 15 yrs old son), a loving wife, and a retired psychotherapist, as well as a natural health & healing advocate/consultant. It's been amazing to see just how profoundly helpful my psychology training and background have proven to be in connecting, understanding, rehabilitating, and working effectively with both dogs and people from all walks of life. As I have done in therapy and coaching, I've successfully helped many little pooches and their owners from all the cities/towns we have lived in over the past 23+ years. It's tremendously rewarding to utilize what comes totally naturally to me to actually benefit others, both people and animals!
I reside in a beautiful street in Central Menlo Park with my very loving family of six (including our two canine kids) in an inviting, down-to-earth, and idyllic ranch house with a spacious, securely fenced backyard and a plenty of soft grass to run around on. My peaceful neighborhood is safe, well-maintained, aesthetic, and is perfect for walking dogs. We so appreciate living in an easy walking distance to trails, multiple parks, two wonderful downtowns (MP & PA), Stanford University campus, and Stanford Shopping Center. With your approval, we can even take the pooches to our vacation home in West Santa Cruz and walk along the gorgeous West Cliff Drive. Just like most humans, pups love the "gourmet air" and they savor the view/sound/smell of the ocean. Just like us, they stare at the spectacularly mesmerizing sunsets with great appreciation. Our lovely SC house also has a securely fenced backyard and a spacious lawn.
I work from home, and my sweet husband who works outside of home is also amazing with dogs. In fact, I've never met a well-adjusted dog that did not fall in love with my fun-loving, compassionate, kind, and considerate life partner of 23+ years. Our two teenagers are also true animal lovers. They are truly the most gentle, loving big brother/sister to our two little pooches. Our two sweet-tempered, well-socialized pups are wonderful with other little dogs, and they love getting to meet all the new doggie friends and guests. We also have a very caring and responsible part-time assistant who comes over to assist with errands, kids' pick-ups, groceries, and the smooth running of our household. Our trustworthy assistant has worked for us for 15+ years and is also a huge dog lover.
I am known by my family and friends as extremely trustworthy, highly responsible, considerate, empathic, very patient, wise, insightful, authentic, intuitive, highly sensitive, and fierce in advocating for the well-being of all those in my care. Whether it's for training or daycare or two months of boarding, you can rest assure that your precious fur baby will be in a "doggie paradise" (physically, mentally, and emotionally) whenever s/he is entrusted in my care.
For added assurance and knowledge in caring for dogs, I am also Pet CPR/First Aid Certified (from American Safety & Health Institute). I usually take only one (or two at the most) guest pooch at a time for boarding so that I can provide a plenty of individualized attention and the highest quality of care. I am not doing this for profit or need. Instead, I am simply following my heart and taking time to pursue my many passions, callings, and dreams that were postponed for many years for the sake of complete dedication to raising healthy, happy kids (they are in their teens now and thriving), establishing financial security, and prioritizing the well-being of my beloved family. I feel truly blessed and deeply grateful to finally be where I am in my life right now.
If you need any type of dog training for your precious pup, please inquire about my dog training service that is specifically tailored to small breed dogs/puppies and completely customized to your/your dog's specific needs. I have had many years of training and extensive professional experience in utilizing behavior modification theory to shape and condition behaviors and have successfully incorporated this into dog training. I can work hourly with the dog (and owner) or you can add the training to the pup's boarding or daycare. If your pup is not yet reliably potty trained and needs potty training during boarding or daycare, it can be provided with an advance notice and an additional fee of $20 to daily boarding/daycare rate.
