I will walk your pooch leisurely up to 1 mile. I will treat your animal like he/she is my own. If your animal loves to fetch his/her toys, I can toss them to him/her. If "Phoebe" loves to cuddle, I can cuddle like the best of them. If "Boe" loves to have the back of his ears scratched, I am your guy.

Walks are customized to your dog(s). If your dog has problems like arthritis or pain, we'll take slow, short walks so they can let their joints stretch out without seizing.

If you have a puppy, we'll take purposeful walks that focus more on movement and getting out energy than on sniffing their way from tree to tree.

If your dog just needs some fresh air and sunshine, we'll move, but they'll also have time to sniff and "meet" the neighborhood dogs.

Walk lengths and ability are subject to weather conditions. If it's too hot outside, I won't take your dog out on the sidewalk. If it's too cold or raining, we'll make a determination based on how the dog reacts to the weather (some dogs love the rain, others don't) and may instead do some playing inside to get the energy out and keep them moving.

I am a very active person. I go on hikes atleast 1-2 times a week and would love to bring your pup along! Also, I live close to some dog parks and walking trails that we could stroll along on. I can walk multiple dogs or just one if that's preferred.

I can walk your pet once in the morning and once in the evening for 30 minutes or longer each day. I can take your pet to events and shows. I can take your pet to training classes that are offered at Petco, etc. I will take your pet to the veterinarian for regular checkups and emergency care. I will walk your dog at a medium rate of speed unless they require a slower pace. I prefer solo walks unless dogs are from the same home. I am not a fan of letting them meet other dogs and prefer to walk on by. Safety first. Because of this I prefer not to take dogs to off leash dog parks. Secure collar, harness and leash need to be provided.

I can do anything from a slow walk with many stops to let the dogs sniff around, to hiking, to light jogging. Whatever mood the dogs are in. I am alright with sólo walks or walking multiple pets, and have no trouble with large dogs. I try to stick to well known and well marked trails to keep the dogs comfortable and always bring water and organic treats.

Top tips for getting started with a dog walker in Vancouver

  1. Look for a dog walker who has passed a background check.
  2. Ask a DogVacay dog walker for a free Meet-n-Greet. Take your pet for a short stroll in Vancouver, letting the dog walker hold the leash. You’ll know quickly if this is the right person for your pet.
  3. Then visit your home with the dog walker, so your pet becomes comfortable with this person in the dog’s territory.
  4. Make plans for letting the DogVacay dog walker into your home. Some people may feel comfortable providing a key. Others keep a key in a combination lockbox. Many people use smart locks and programmable key codes.
  5. Discuss the length and route of the walk in your neighborhood in Vancouver. Cover what kind of updates you want (such as a “bathroom” log or behavior notes).
  6. Explain what your treat policy is after a walk. Keep treats safely stored, and let the dog walker know where to find them.
  7. Make sure your pet has the right harnesses, collars, leashes and equipment for a safe and fun walk.
