the following is somewhat related: I work at Lowe's at South Burlington, VT which is a pet friendly store. I love making friends with the customers dogs . The dogs owners seeing how well I get along with their pets often say , he normally does not like men, he seems to really like you or I've never seen him want to play like that , he's really happy . The dog is willing to behave well when they sense you are not a threat and trustworthy. From my experience with walking dogs on a line, they all have their own style that needs to be respected. I want solo dog walking...about my pictures..I live very close to lake Champlain ,wooded area behind condo, dog can stay in my room and use the kitchen area, dog bowl, water ect... I don't mind if dog wants to get on bed or sofa(my room Only)I drive a Toyota mini van with all the back seating removed, plenty of room for large dog.

Depending on the dog's personality and age, the walk could be leisurely or active. If there are parks or larger rural spaces nearby, I prefer to go there so the dogs may be off the leash if allowed. Also depending on the dogs, I could walk up to three at one time, if they are not aggressive toward each other.

I am able to take all types of walks. I have walked multiple dogs as well as solo dogs. I can do fast pace, active walks as well as leisurely walks around the neighborhood. Whether it is just to go potty or to get their daily exercise, we will walk as long as needed!

I guarantee these walks will be within the comfort zone of each individual pet! I am an active person and can take it slow or kick it up a notch! You tell me what your canine friend needs and I will make it happen. I feel most comfortable walking 1-3 dogs.

Will happily take up to three dogs at one time! The walks could range anywhere from a brisk walk around the neighborhood, a visit to the dog park, or even a hike! Personalizing the walk to your wants/needs as well as your dogs is very important to me! Having a large fenced in area to run around in is definitely ideal! I think it's important for any dog to get the chance to stretch their legs off lease in a safe environment. Whether that involves romping around with another dog, or chasing after a ball, your dog will be safe and happy!

Whatever your dog feels like doing! I love hiking, going on runs, walking on the beach, going downtown, playing ball, or just snuggling! Since I've worked at a dog daycare/boarding facility for over a year now, I've gotten pretty good at reading the behavior and body language of dogs. It's like babysitting kids - you've got to find out what toy they want to play with, or what activity they'd like to do!

I like to take dogs for leisurely walks in the park or by the water, or on active walks through the woods or hiking trails. I usually take one dog at a time, but feel comfortable taking multiple dogs at once. If the dog is well-trained and listens to commands, I will bring a frisbee or ball to throw around in the grass or the water in summer.

Whatever your dog needs. Most dogs appreciate that one-on-one attention, but if your dog's temperment allows, play and socializing by walking with others can also be a great way to spend a day! I would typically talk with you via email or in-person to make sure you and your dog are completely comfortable with the length, intensity, and types of walks. I am very athletic, so if your dog needs running, we'll run. If you have an elderly dog or one with health concerns, we'll make sure your dog gets the attention and supervisoin he or she needs so every time outside is the best time!

My walks start out leisurely allowing the dog, or dogs to have plenty of time to enjoy smelling new things outside, then continue our walk with some short burst of sprinting. I can do walks with multiple dogs, or if the dog prefers to be one on one then I also do solo walks. I'll do what the dogs would want to do for exercise!

Depending on how active the dog is I am willing to whatever level of activity they are comfortable with! I am very active myself so I like to get out whenever I can. I would prefer to walk 1-2 dogs at a time but I am willing to with walking multiple!

Top tips for getting started with a dog walker in Burlington

  1. Look for a dog walker who has passed a background check.
  2. Ask a DogVacay dog walker for a free Meet-n-Greet. Take your pet for a short stroll in Burlington, letting the dog walker hold the leash. You’ll know quickly if this is the right person for your pet.
  3. Then visit your home with the dog walker, so your pet becomes comfortable with this person in the dog’s territory.
  4. Make plans for letting the DogVacay dog walker into your home. Some people may feel comfortable providing a key. Others keep a key in a combination lockbox. Many people use smart locks and programmable key codes.
  5. Discuss the length and route of the walk in your neighborhood in Burlington. Cover what kind of updates you want (such as a “bathroom” log or behavior notes).
  6. Explain what your treat policy is after a walk. Keep treats safely stored, and let the dog walker know where to find them.
  7. Make sure your pet has the right harnesses, collars, leashes and equipment for a safe and fun walk.
