I will walk your dog according to your instructions. We can jog, walk leisurely or a combination. We can go to the park, walk/ jog around your neighborhood or we can play in your yard. If you want me to throw a ball or play with some other toy we can do that on. I can bring my dog or leave her at home. Just let me know your preferences and your wish will be my command.

My home is located adjacent to a park with beautiful walking trails for plenty of sniffs, squirrel watching, and other exciting activities. I typically take my clients for 3-4 walks per day depending on their level of mobility. When taking your pet outside my home I ensure we stay a safe distance from all other animals and avoid heavily congested areas.

Walks are for your dog. If I accept a job walking your dog, he/she will have some leisurely stroll time to smell the neighborhood and go potty; and also some faster walking to get some exercise. I like to take different routes to make the walk interesting for your dog and will closely supervise his/her behavior around people and other dogs.

I have two huskies and so walking long distances and at a fast pace is a regular thing! I also am prepared to walk in the style of the dog so if it wants to walk slow and rest now and again I will do whatever makes the dog happy! I am also experienced walking more then 1 dog and can spot instances when they will need to be kept away from other aggressive dogs.

We are two full time nurses who love dogs and miss having them in our lives! We both have had multiple dogs growing up, and enjoy dog sitting for friends and coworkers! We enjoy watching the dogs as much as they like coming and playing with us! Being nurses, we are comfortable with giving meds and injections. We live on the bottom terrace of an apartment complex, and are feet away from a grassy lawn. I work night shift and Daniel works day shift, so between the two of us, dogs will be minimally unattended. We can accommodate each dog's individual needs and activity level, and can even run with your pup!

Depending on the type of dog I normally just do regular walking with the dog. However, depending on the breed and size/age of the dog I also do some jogging (if they are feeling energetic). When walking with 2 or more dogs I would do some fast paced walking or regular speed walking, again depending on their age and breed. The number one priority is to walk at a pace that they feel comfortable with and that they are enjoying the walk.

Top tips for getting started with a dog walker in Fairfax

  1. Look for a dog walker who has passed a background check.
  2. Ask a DogVacay dog walker for a free Meet-n-Greet. Take your pet for a short stroll in Fairfax, letting the dog walker hold the leash. You’ll know quickly if this is the right person for your pet.
  3. Then visit your home with the dog walker, so your pet becomes comfortable with this person in the dog’s territory.
  4. Make plans for letting the DogVacay dog walker into your home. Some people may feel comfortable providing a key. Others keep a key in a combination lockbox. Many people use smart locks and programmable key codes.
  5. Discuss the length and route of the walk in your neighborhood in Fairfax. Cover what kind of updates you want (such as a “bathroom” log or behavior notes).
  6. Explain what your treat policy is after a walk. Keep treats safely stored, and let the dog walker know where to find them.
  7. Make sure your pet has the right harnesses, collars, leashes and equipment for a safe and fun walk.
