When walking a dog it's a very enjoyable experience. The dog gets plenty of exercise and lots sunshine and fresh air. Depending on where we walk, the dog will most likely enjoy the area. The walking is very interactive and great exercise for the pet. I myself enjoy walking immensely, yet with a dog it is just that much more enjoyable. I love animals in general and I am very attentive to their every need.

I will take your dog for whatever type of walk they are accustomed to. We can jog, walk, go for a leisurely walk or brisk. I walk and run with my dogs and am used to walking multiple dogs at once. I am comfortable at any pace and length and enjoy being active with my dogs. Whatever the owner and dog prefer for their exercise I am happy to accommodate those requests.

I would love to work solo with dogs that need work on leash waking. Older dogs will be walked at a relaxed pace. Younger and more active dogs will be walked at a much more active pace. I am willing to train a jogging routine with the owners wishes. I like walking in a park or neighborhood where there is a minimum amount of traffic. I will walk multiple dogs at a time as long as they are well behaved on the leash. I will work on loose leash walking and other basic commands, using the distractions of the outside world to create a more solid command. Thank you for considering me to take your furry family member or and about.

We walk around the neighborhood and in the school yard. There's a lot to sniff and see! I also can take the dogs to woody trails and parks in the area! These are active walks that ensure the dogs are stimulated and tired when they get home. I can customize the time depending on the age and activity level of your dog.

My walks depend on the dog- a senior dog is going to love a leisurely paced and comfortable pace, versus a puppy who I would run and walk. I'm happy to walk at a leisure pace or to go on a run with a dog that I'm taking care of.

As for walking multiple dogs, my maximum is four.

Prefer solo dog-walking so that I can maintain control. I'm an avid runner, so I can take the dogs on a run if the owner requests, or just a leisurely walk. If just a walk, 2 dogs will be fine, but again, prefer taking one dog at a time. I enjoy being outside as much as I'm sure the dogs do, and love taking dogs on walks or runs.

Top tips for getting started with a dog walker in Chesapeake

  1. Look for a dog walker who has passed a background check.
  2. Ask a DogVacay dog walker for a free Meet-n-Greet. Take your pet for a short stroll in Chesapeake, letting the dog walker hold the leash. You’ll know quickly if this is the right person for your pet.
  3. Then visit your home with the dog walker, so your pet becomes comfortable with this person in the dog’s territory.
  4. Make plans for letting the DogVacay dog walker into your home. Some people may feel comfortable providing a key. Others keep a key in a combination lockbox. Many people use smart locks and programmable key codes.
  5. Discuss the length and route of the walk in your neighborhood in Chesapeake. Cover what kind of updates you want (such as a “bathroom” log or behavior notes).
  6. Explain what your treat policy is after a walk. Keep treats safely stored, and let the dog walker know where to find them.
  7. Make sure your pet has the right harnesses, collars, leashes and equipment for a safe and fun walk.
