Most dogs I've watched enjoy leisurely walks. I always carry a water bottle with me in case the dogs get hot, especially in the summer. I only do active running if there is only one dog. I also don't like to pull so if your pup likes to stop and sniff, they can enjoy themselves.

A Little About Us:

We are a dog loving family and can't wait to meet your family member(s)!!

Before I moved to VA 12 years ago, I was a veterinary technician in PA. I only gave that up to work from home and be with my family more.

I have recently left the corporate world and take care of my doggie guests full time, so I have tons of time to spend playing with and taking care of my guests. My 15 year old son who are also loves the doggie guests helps me as well. We do this as a family and we LOVE it!!

A little about our house:

We have a sfh and dogs are welcome to roam the house freely on all levels unless otherwise requested by an owner.

*** We have a fenced in property. We have a backyard and a side dog run. It is very safe and secure for the dogs.

This will allow a lot more off leash play time and exercise time for those dogs that need it and owners that request it.

A little about what we do:

We take no more than 4 clients at a time per Loudoun County regulations.

-NOTE: If my calendar says booked, please contact me directly, this may just be a dog drop off or dog pick up issue.

We welcome dogs of all ages and size.
You can check out our pics of recent guests during their stay!!!

If your dog needs any medications, I am fully capable of administering oral meds, as well as injections.

We are also available for last minute boarding or daycare if you need it!

We do not accept Agressive dogs.

During their stay, your dog will receive at least 2 short walks a day.
If your dog needs a long walk (1/2 mile or more) each day, then there is an additional charge of $10/day.

A little about what you should bring:

-Your pets food
-Any medications
-Leash
-Favorite toy
-Their crate if you use one

A little bit about safety:

-Dog tags with your pets name and phone number

A little something extra:

Walks can be leisurely, active and multiple dogs depending on the need/age of your dog(s). It is likely that I would bring our Airedale along. Typically her walks are of the active kind, especially if a squirrel or rabbit appears!
If your dog prefers to be on his own, it can also be arranged. :-)

My walks with sprocket tend to be about a mile out and a mile back at a brisk to leisurely rate. Bigger dogs I will walk further at a active rate. I do not run but I do walk long distances. Leisurely walks depended on the dog(client) I may bring sprocket or just do it Solo. I do not have any issue adjusting dependent on the dog(client)

My average walk depends on what the owners think the pet needs. If they just want their dog to get out and see the neighborhood then it's leisurely. If they want to make sure their dog stays in shape then it's active (hikes, trails, etc.). I am more than comfortable walking more than one dog at a time (size does not matter).

Top tips for getting started with a dog walker in Ashburn

  1. Look for a dog walker who has passed a background check.
  2. Ask a DogVacay dog walker for a free Meet-n-Greet. Take your pet for a short stroll in Ashburn, letting the dog walker hold the leash. You’ll know quickly if this is the right person for your pet.
  3. Then visit your home with the dog walker, so your pet becomes comfortable with this person in the dog’s territory.
  4. Make plans for letting the DogVacay dog walker into your home. Some people may feel comfortable providing a key. Others keep a key in a combination lockbox. Many people use smart locks and programmable key codes.
  5. Discuss the length and route of the walk in your neighborhood in Ashburn. Cover what kind of updates you want (such as a “bathroom” log or behavior notes).
  6. Explain what your treat policy is after a walk. Keep treats safely stored, and let the dog walker know where to find them.
  7. Make sure your pet has the right harnesses, collars, leashes and equipment for a safe and fun walk.
