Visits:
My rate includes a feeding, potty time, and quality time spent together snuggling or playing!

Walks:
I enjoy walking leisurely with up to two larger or three smaller pups at a time through your neighborhood or a nearby park. If your pup requires a more active walk, I am happy to step it up; just let me know ahead of time so I can make sure to wear sneakers :). Walks can also include some outdoor time if your pup is more comfortable hanging out in your backyard.

There is a local off-leash dog park and trails nearby where I would walk the dog(s). The off-leash dog park is at Auditorium Shores and always has other friendly pets where they roam and have doggy fun! Unless requested, this will likely be a group walk (not individual). A leisurely walk will be the norm, unless your dog is very active and loves to go on runs!

I am an active runner. I like to gauge what the dog's activity level is and exercise them to their fullest potential. I can take dogs on a relaxing, leisurely walk or I can run with them for an hour. Whatever they need! A tired dog, is a happy dog. I only walk multiple dogs if they currently reside together-- otherwise solo walks for each dog.

If dogs are young/energetic I will provide longer more active walks. If dogs are older/less energetic I will provide shorter less active walks. I enjoy taking dogs to dog parks and allowing them to run around freely in designated areas that are fenced in. I am able to make multiple dogs on walks as long as they get along with other dogs and all have similar mobility and are able to keep up with one another.

Pets will be walked on their own separate leash in a designated safe area. Walks may include but are not limited to: walks down Barton Spring trails, dog parks outside and around Barton Springs neighborhood, Down Town walks. I of course will be present during their designated walks and sometimes I will be accompanied by another adult. If suitable for the pet I may sometimes be accompanied by a teenager or younger child purposely for the experience of both the kid and pet.

I like to go for active walks to burn up that doggy energy but can go on leisurely walks and cater to the dogs exercise needs. I do like to stop and smell the roses and let my doggies explore as well. If you have more than 1 dog I can walk 2 dogs at a time but usually stick to solo walks for my clients.

I love taking dogs on leisurely walks. I usually only walk one dog at a time, but I would be willing to walk multiple dogs depending on their size. I walk lots of large dogs at the shelter where I volunteer. I'm experienced with walking strong dogs that pull on the leash.

I would love to allow the walks to attend to each, individual dog. For dogs that are more active or younger, they can go on longer and more active walks. And vice versa for older dogs or dogs that just need to maintain a healthy weight. I can walk up to 3 dogs at a time and I know how to handle leashes. I have a great love for dogs and would love to explore Austin while dog walking.

Walks, depending on the home's neighborhood and/or proximity to a park, will include a walk around the area, a small hike near nature or going to a park/dog park, depending on the dog's socialization behavior, and playing fetch if the dog likes to. If the owner has a preference in how the walks happen, I can accommodate to the dog's typical routine or create a variety of walks to diversify activities.

Your pup will experience a nice walk around the neighborhood or at the park. I can also take them to the creek/lake to enjoy the water. Walks can be active, slow, whatever your dog needs. All walks are solo unless you have more than one dog that can be walked together.

Top tips for getting started with a dog walker in Austin

  1. Look for a dog walker who has passed a background check.
  2. Ask a DogVacay dog walker for a free Meet-n-Greet. Take your pet for a short stroll in Austin, letting the dog walker hold the leash. You’ll know quickly if this is the right person for your pet.
  3. Then visit your home with the dog walker, so your pet becomes comfortable with this person in the dog’s territory.
  4. Make plans for letting the DogVacay dog walker into your home. Some people may feel comfortable providing a key. Others keep a key in a combination lockbox. Many people use smart locks and programmable key codes.
  5. Discuss the length and route of the walk in your neighborhood in Austin. Cover what kind of updates you want (such as a “bathroom” log or behavior notes).
  6. Explain what your treat policy is after a walk. Keep treats safely stored, and let the dog walker know where to find them.
  7. Make sure your pet has the right harnesses, collars, leashes and equipment for a safe and fun walk.
