I love to go for walks and runs with beautiful scenery. My favorite place to go walking and running is at River Legacy in Arlington, but my favorite place overall is the Cedar Hill Nature Preserve. This place includes many different hiking trails that meet different levels of fitness, both for people and for their pets.
I am extremely passionate about both nature and animals, and I believe having both by your side will bring extreme levels of joy and happiness. I love walking dogs one at a time, but I also love walking dogs together. Walking a single dog gives an opportunity to bond more and have a closer connection with that one dog, and walking dogs together allow for the dogs to connect and bond with one another. My boyfriend has three dogs, and we usually take all three to walk together, which is never a problem. He has a lake in his neighborhood, and the dogs love to jump in and go for a swim. Cleaning them afterward is a must, but is always a joy. Being a retired collegiate athlete, I love to go on long runs at different paces and I am a very outdoor-loving person. I love to make new fury friends and I cannot wait to give your dogs the best day ever!

Typically, I like to create a walk that is best fitted for the particular dog I'm walking, whether it's more energetic or more leisurely :). Walks can be fast paced or slower paced, depending on the energy levels and amounts of sniffs a pup can have!

Hi! My name is Amy and I love the outdoors and dogs! Growing up my family had energetic and loving labs, chocolate, black and yellow labs. I am conveniently located downtown in the Pearl district. I love taking my doggie clients into the forest to hike some beautiful trails and commune with nature! I can provide more leisurely walks, or incorpate walks with a variety of terrain. I can do some dog running if that is the level of exercise you desire for your dog/dogs. I am very strong, so bigger breeds are welcome as well. I have done light training as well, and have gained confidence in my abilities with working with our furry friends. I have worked with almost every breed of dog. If you have more than one pup I can walk them together. generally, I would just be taking your pups on our walks. I have been blessed to work with dogs for the past 5+ years and it has truly enhanced my life, so good for the soul! I am Red Cross first aid pet certified. I felt this was very important, as I am in a position of providing safety to all of my doggie clients and their well being is of utmost importance to me! They deserve it.
I have learned so much about myself from working with my doggie clients. I feel such great pure energy when I am around them! Exercising and caring for dogs is one of my life's passions and am truly grateful for the beautiful exchange of energy! I look forward to meeting and working with your dog/dogs and caring for them like family! I am happy to provide a discount for weekly jobs with multiple consistent days. One of my other passions is taking photos of dogs, so you would be getting those when I send you our updates! Feel free to contact me with any questions that you may have. Gratefully at your service, Amy and The Tao of dogs : )

Rain or shine, I love taking walks around town. I currently work with toddlers at a Montessori preschool and I go on walks with them everyday if not twice a day. I love being out and about. My walks with your furbabies would consist of a leisure walk to the nearest park or just around town or around the block a few times. It could also include picture updates of your dog enjoying himself throughout the day. I would make it a priority that your dog is always comfortable and hydrated. I am comfortable offering walks for up to two dogs at a time, maximum, because I would like to be able to provide each dog with my undivided attention.

Every dog is different and can require varying levels of exercise. I hope to create the experience you desire for your dog. Whether that is taking your beloved furry companion on a hiking adventure, playtime at the park, or a relaxing walk around the block... let me know what you are envisioning and I will make it happen!

And if you have multiple dogs, never fear! I grew up in a family that had 2 - 3 dogs at all times. From Rat Terriers to Rottweiler-German Shepherd mixes... I am used to the dynamics of multiple dogs in all different shapes and sizes.

I would describe my walks as active. I like to take dogs somewhere where they can walk on and off a leash, run around, relax a little bit outside, and have the freedom to pee wherever! If I can I like to do one active walk/hike a day and then a leisurely walk later in the day as well. I prefer to do only one dog at a time because it is the easiest way I can assure all of my attention is on your pet at all times!

I enjoy all types of walks with dogs. It just depends on the dog's personality and physical ability and what suits them best. When the weather is nice, I enjoy running and being active but I also don't mind a casual walk either. I'd also prefer to walk no more than two dogs at a time.

Dependent on your dog's needs I can do slow or active walks or brief or longer walks! I love being outdoors and am no stranger to Portland's rain. I can also play fetch or take them to a dog park to help them socialize or burn off some extra energy.

I will not walk your pet with other dogs unless you have multiple dogs in your household.

I love going to park to walk dogs! I can be flexible with walking/running/playing depending on what pets like to do. For me, safety is the most important thing. To keep pets from trouble will be my top priority. Make sure that pets don't eat stuff from ground and be safe from vehicles. I like talking dogs to off-leash park because dogs can be free and safe. I am very good with big dogs and any kind of cats. I have experiences with giving medicines to pets. I love animals and treat pets with love and care!
I charge $5 for extra pet for all of the services.

Top tips for getting started with a dog walker in Portland

  1. Look for a dog walker who has passed a background check.
  2. Ask a DogVacay dog walker for a free Meet-n-Greet. Take your pet for a short stroll in Portland, letting the dog walker hold the leash. You’ll know quickly if this is the right person for your pet.
  3. Then visit your home with the dog walker, so your pet becomes comfortable with this person in the dog’s territory.
  4. Make plans for letting the DogVacay dog walker into your home. Some people may feel comfortable providing a key. Others keep a key in a combination lockbox. Many people use smart locks and programmable key codes.
  5. Discuss the length and route of the walk in your neighborhood in Portland. Cover what kind of updates you want (such as a “bathroom” log or behavior notes).
  6. Explain what your treat policy is after a walk. Keep treats safely stored, and let the dog walker know where to find them.
  7. Make sure your pet has the right harnesses, collars, leashes and equipment for a safe and fun walk.
