Your pet will be walked just as if you were walking him or as he was my own little best friend. After having a walk-dog business in my teens, I have learned and enhanced the way to walk a dog. I know when it is time for an "educated walk" which means the dog is listening to me, not walking further than my side, and especially not going on everyone's lawn while pulling the leash. I also know when the dog needs to go do its personal needs and where should he do them. Finally, a dog always need some fun time during its walk and it is important to establish where it is fun time and where it is walk time. (ie. Fun time at the park but walk time on the sidewalk).

Walks would include some leisurely time, active time, multiple dogs or solo dogs - it all depends on the situation, the owner's preference and the specific dog. I would want to make sure that the type of walk is best for the specific dog. I would want to ask what the pet owner would like the walk/activites to include.

Leisurely walks, with points of running and throwing around a ball or toy. If I am taking care of multiple dogs we will all go on walks together and have points when we can play around. We will walk in none busy areas, hopefully in areas with lots of trees, and grass. Walk on very safe routes!

I will likely walk only one or two dogs a time. Depends on your requirement and the health condition of the dog, I could either walk the dog actively (run with it) or walk it casualty. I am a student at Queen's and I am pretty fit person so I am okay either way. I will wear running shoes and dress comfortable to make the walk easier for me and the dog. I would like toldos about the behavior and habits of the dog first, and depends on your place, we can decide on a perfect path. It will be better if it is not too far from a local park.

My dog walks will be active. I like to keep a brisk pace and find parks or go down to the water! I am happy to stop for doggie bathroom breaks or if your dog wants to sniff around for new scents. I want your dog to get good exercise but to also have a great time!

Your dog will enjoy a refreshing walk at their pace. If your dog plays well with others, then my own dog Oakley (30 lb mini-goldendoodle) will join in on the fun. My own dog can walk off leash, and comes when called. If your own dog is a puller, I'd be happy to teach them how to walk on leash. As any dog owner, I am favourable to certain leashes and harnesses. Having said that, I respect others decisions and can walk dogs on different types of leashes, collars, harnesses etc. Solo dog walks can be done at request. I am open to walking dogs in their own neighbourhood, or bringing them to mine (if they do well with car rides). I may live in an apartment, but right across the street is the beautiful Kingston waterfront trail. If your dog is able to enjoy a car ride (if you are not located walking distance to a park), and behave at the dog park, a dog park romp will be given to 60-minute walkers. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions or requests.

I am open to any type of walk that the animal enjoys or that you think the animal needs. I can walk up to two dogs at a time at any pace. I enjoy exercising very much and am open to doing multiple dog walks a day. If your pet has a certain route that they like to walk then I would love to take the animal there so that they are comfortable with the surrounding area.

I would be more than willing to do any type of walk that the owner requests. I am very active so if you have a dog that likes to go for runs, I am more than happy to go on runs! I also would love doing leisurely walks, multiple dog walks, solo walks, walks through hiking trails, by the water or near your home. I am extremely flexible and would be open to anything!

Depending on the location, leisurely walks around the neighbourhood will be ideal. Also depending on the dog would decifer if he/she needs a little more excercise and requires a jog.
2 dogs would be my max preference, as my own dogs will not be joining us for walks.

As I am an active person walking dogs is not a problem. I can walk/run far distances. Can be very active for example, walking quickly or running. Owning multiple dogs in the past, I am able to walk with numerous amounts in a controllable fashion. I will always think of the dogs when going on long excursions, bringing water and resting when needed.

Top tips for getting started with a dog walker in Kingston

  1. Look for a dog walker who has passed a background check.
  2. Ask a DogVacay dog walker for a free Meet-n-Greet. Take your pet for a short stroll in Kingston, letting the dog walker hold the leash. You’ll know quickly if this is the right person for your pet.
  3. Then visit your home with the dog walker, so your pet becomes comfortable with this person in the dog’s territory.
  4. Make plans for letting the DogVacay dog walker into your home. Some people may feel comfortable providing a key. Others keep a key in a combination lockbox. Many people use smart locks and programmable key codes.
  5. Discuss the length and route of the walk in your neighborhood in Kingston. Cover what kind of updates you want (such as a “bathroom” log or behavior notes).
  6. Explain what your treat policy is after a walk. Keep treats safely stored, and let the dog walker know where to find them.
  7. Make sure your pet has the right harnesses, collars, leashes and equipment for a safe and fun walk.
