Typical walks are done with a single dog (up to 3 in the same household). We will play games of fetch and tug, if there's space for it, before taking a leisurely walk. The dogs always have ample time to relieve themselves, sniff things, and are clean/dry when they get home!

I can customize walks to suit your dogs needs. Walking them alone or with their furry siblings, short or long walks- up to you! If you have an older dog then slower, shorter and more leisurely walks may be best. For a younger dog, a faster, more active, longer walk and/or playing at the local park or dog park may suit your dog better. I am willing to do off leash at dog parks if that suits you and your dog.

If you have multiple dogs in the house and they get along well I am more than happy to walk them together. If your dogs have different needs, for example an older dog and a puppy in the same house, I can do multiple walks and walk them separately.

Overall I want your dog to have a great experience and want to tailor the walks to your dogs personal needs.

I can do any kind of walks. Whatever your dog or dogs need I can do it. Casual walks, faster walks, or walks for more than 1 dog. I have dealt with a number of different dogs and don't mind handling any kind! I have worked at multiple different pet stores and I don't mind handling your dog in whatever way they need. If they are old or young or anywhere in between. Anything is good with me!

My family personally owns 2 dogs that have a lot of energy. I constantly take them out when I am at home and take them on long walks through trails and take them to the dog park close by. I enjoy running around with them, throwing balls and sticks for them, and chasing them. I can do 2 dogs at once for a walk. I do not mind doing leisurely walks or active walks, whichever your dog prefers!

I love to walk dogs at a pace ranging anywhere from a leisurely stroll to an active hike/run. I enjoy bringing dogs on adventures and letting them just be dogs - and I don't mind cleaning them up when they get a little wet and muddy!

My walks are generally about 30 minutes each, but I don't mind lessening or extending that time depending on what the dog feels like doing that day. I am comfortable walking both big and small dogs, and I love walking dogs solo or in small groups!

Furthermore, I have my own car and am more than willing to drive the dog to and from their favourite walking spot. :)

If the walk is occurring while the dog is staying in my home: the neighbourhood I live in is quiet and does not have busy streets. I live about 10 minutes away (on foot) from the Cootes Paradise Conservation Area, which features an extensive network of wonderful forest trails. I also live close by Churchill Park, which consists of several large fields to run and play in.

It honestly depends on the breed of dog. Just like people, dogs are all very different. Some dogs need more longer, active walks such as Golden Retrievers, Labs. As other dogs such as Spaniels, Hounds or Bulldogs need minimal exercise.

With active walks I include tossing and catching, chase, running, anything to get your dogs heart & body pumping.

The moderate walks include social interaction, jogging, etc.

Our walk will be adjusted to suit the individual dog and his/her needs. Part of this walk will be leisurely, and a visit to a dog park will be included if one is nearby. A maximum of two dogs is permitted. There will almost always be two of us available for this service, providing for extra attention for the dog/dogs.

I am a runner, if you dog would like to go for runs.
I also enjoy trail walks, and back street walks.
I also enjoy taking dogs to open fields to run around and play. If your dog enjoys dog parks I can take them there as well.
I would prefer to walk only 1-2 dogs at a time.

Variety of walks offered, length and duration may vary depending on animals level of fitness and needs. I am an active person, so I believe I am able to handle a few dogs, but one on one time is also available to meet your animals needs. Leisurely strolls are easy, and embraced in all weather alongside the offerings of more fast paced walks with activity.

I can adjust my walking style to the dog, I've walked young energetic pups-slower senior dogs. My approach is customized based on the dogs preference and ability. I understand that every dog is different and so are its needs. Being a vegetarian I have compassion for all animals.

Top tips for getting started with a dog walker in Hamilton

  1. Look for a dog walker who has passed a background check.
  2. Ask a DogVacay dog walker for a free Meet-n-Greet. Take your pet for a short stroll in Hamilton, letting the dog walker hold the leash. You’ll know quickly if this is the right person for your pet.
  3. Then visit your home with the dog walker, so your pet becomes comfortable with this person in the dog’s territory.
  4. Make plans for letting the DogVacay dog walker into your home. Some people may feel comfortable providing a key. Others keep a key in a combination lockbox. Many people use smart locks and programmable key codes.
  5. Discuss the length and route of the walk in your neighborhood in Hamilton. Cover what kind of updates you want (such as a “bathroom” log or behavior notes).
  6. Explain what your treat policy is after a walk. Keep treats safely stored, and let the dog walker know where to find them.
  7. Make sure your pet has the right harnesses, collars, leashes and equipment for a safe and fun walk.
