I would happy to walk at least 3 dogs at one time. I have much experience with dogs with aggression and know what to do in those situations. I would be happy to take them in my car to the dog park, trail walks, etc. If your dog requires much exercise I would be able to play fetch and really get them some good exercise.

I'm able to walk multiple dogs at one time. We will be walking at the minimum a mile. We will preferably stay in the neighborhood unless there is a park nearby. Many times, we'll take long strolls and ramble the streets! They will always be on a leash to reduce the chances of being harmed by other animals.

My husband and I are foster parents for a local animal rescue and both of us love animals! We have both dogs and cats at our house, so bringing new animals into our home is not ideal. However, I am willing to go let your dogs out and walk them during the day, will take care of cats needs and, on occasion, stay the night but prefer to do a day by day animal care, so that I can take care of my own animals. I ask that whatever animals I take care of be current on their vaccinations, be leash trained and have proper walking equipment (leash, collar, etc.) and not be aggressive with strangers. I will spend at least 15 minutes per visit interacting with your pet, if you wish. This could include playing or just giving good belly rubs! Medication dispersion will be on a per case basis for my safety and the pet's comfort.

Walks are customized to your pet. Duration & activity level can be discussed when we chat. If your pet love to walk with another dog I can bring mine along or if you prefer a solo walk, your pet and I have a great park just a block away from my home we can go to.

My walks are catered to the dogs' needs. I am able to walk multiple dogs and can walk as slow as needed or at a jog for the higher energy fur babies! If your dog needs help with walking nicely on a leash, I am more than happy to help with that training and have experience with it! I do ask that those walks are solo dog walks though. Dogs learn at different paces and if one catches one, they get frustrated while the other is still learning! I can absolutely walk the other fur babies afterward! If you need playtime, I can add that in as well, or replace the full walk with fetch! I love to help get the energy and boredom out for them. I have walked/worked with dogs from 7lbs and up! My current dogs range from 37-60lbs, but I walk dogs for the rescue I work with and we have some very large and in charge pullers! :)

I enjoy taking walks around the neighborhood, to the nearest park and/or dog park. We can travel by car to a larger dog park for some extra exercise. I enjoy taking multiple dogs out to the dog park or up to three dogs for a walk. Some pups require special attention while walking, so I would take them individually.

Walks can be leisurely or active depending on need of the dog. If dog is high energy, I can include a 2 mile run as pet of the survive. Depending on length of the walk, I can also bring water with me for puppy water breaks. My dogs get walked four to five times a week and I make sure to give them the chance to sniff and explore the area before the run gets too active so they can be familiar with their surroundings.

All of our walks are GPS verified: you will receive a link that shows the exact route, distance, and time of your pet's walk. Our main tracking system also allows us to record when and where your pet potties, so you will literally know when, where, and if your dog pooped when you view the walk through our app!

Our walks and runs vary on each dog's level of fitness and needs. DogVacay's standard pricing option is a time-based 30 minute or 60 minute walk. Please note that our walks do not always adhere to this system since we focus more on the dog's needs than time. We have a "Short" or "Long" option for each type of walk. Our average "Short" walk is about 30-45 minutes, however, we do not continue walking if a dog seems to be tired, hot, or in pain at any time. Likewise, we do not return home at exactly 30 minutes if a high-energy dog is still running at full speed. We have the following approaches to walking pets:

"Sniffers" such as seniors, dogs with health issues, or dogs who tend to get hot/tired easily get to leisurely roam the neighborhood at a walking pace with very little, if any, running. We focus on allowing them to experience a new environment with gentle and conservative amounts of physical activity. Any running would be at the dog's request only. These walks focus on allowing each pet to explore as he or she pleases. Short walks are under 1 hour, long walks are over 1 hour. The distance covered with sniffers generally ranges from 1/4 mile to 2 miles, with unlimited sniffing! Some of our 1/4 mile walks with Sniffers have taken up to 40 minutes-sometimes an area just has too many good smells to pass up! Sniffers may walk alone or in a group of 2-3 pets with similar needs.

Dogs of average energy and ability alternate between walking, casual running, and sniffing depending on their level of fitness and the temperature. We focus on ensuring the pet gets a healthy amount of exercise for their breed and type without pushing them beyond their current level of comfort. Short walks are under 1 hour, long walks are over 1 hour. A typical walk for our "Average" guests is about 1-2 miles and 40 minutes in duration. Average walks may be done solo or with a group of 2-3 pets with similar needs.

For our high energy breeds and athletes, we focus on burning off extra energy and increasing endurance. We have seen amazing changes in behavior in high energy dogs and even puppies when they are allowed to run 3 or more times per week. Several issues such as chewing, whining, or not following commands can be a result of frustration from built up energy. These "walks" involve more running than walking based on your pet's fitness. A typical short option beginner run would consist of a 2-3 mile run at an average "jogging" pace ranging from 9-12 minutes per mile with some walking in between. A typical short option established run for this group is a 3-5 mile run at a 10 minute pace with stopping only at stoplights or upon request by the dog OR speed intervals up to a 7:45 pace. Long runs vary according to the dog's abilities and will be discussed on a case-by-case basis. High energy runs are typically either a solo run or a run with Scooby or Freddie, our seasoned pet athletes. With all high energy runs, we watch for signs of tiredness such as hanging the head low, panting, or asking to lay down. Any of these signs will result in a leisurely walk back home and/or rest as needed. We also only run if the temperature is under 85F for short-haired dogs or 75F for long-haired dogs.

I am an active person so I love running and playing with animals. I had a German Shepherd as a kid and I grew to love having the dog take me for runs instead of the other way around. I got used to being bigger dogs toy and wrestling buddy and I am okay with any form of animal play times. Not only for dogs but cats as well, my mother owns two herself and I frequently cat sit for her which includes feeding, grooming, playing with, and cleaning of the litter box. I am experienced with all ages and breeds of animals as my family is and has always been animal friendly.

Top tips for getting started with a dog walker in Oklahoma City

  1. Look for a dog walker who has passed a background check.
  2. Ask a DogVacay dog walker for a free Meet-n-Greet. Take your pet for a short stroll in Oklahoma City, letting the dog walker hold the leash. You’ll know quickly if this is the right person for your pet.
  3. Then visit your home with the dog walker, so your pet becomes comfortable with this person in the dog’s territory.
  4. Make plans for letting the DogVacay dog walker into your home. Some people may feel comfortable providing a key. Others keep a key in a combination lockbox. Many people use smart locks and programmable key codes.
  5. Discuss the length and route of the walk in your neighborhood in Oklahoma City. Cover what kind of updates you want (such as a “bathroom” log or behavior notes).
  6. Explain what your treat policy is after a walk. Keep treats safely stored, and let the dog walker know where to find them.
  7. Make sure your pet has the right harnesses, collars, leashes and equipment for a safe and fun walk.
