I walk my own three med-large breed dogs daily. We range from leisurely walks to and from dog park, around my neighborhood, lengthy walks on hiking trails, active runs on track. I have leash trained my own three, as well as five previous dogs. I love being in nature, so while I enjoy taking a few trips around the block with mine, I prefer longer, more active walks. We also enjoy stopping at the park. It is important that dogs are free to explore their surroundings, trees, flowers, and take in the sights and smells they are finding in this new environment. I am willing to transport dogs to different locations such as dog parks or trails if they do not live within walking distance of these places.

I have walked up to 4 dogs at a time. Usually start off slow to build up to a brisk walk. Keeping leash in control, allowing dogs to sniff and do their buisness, casually stopping for water breaks. Usually in solo walks if the dog has a high Active personality I enjoy jogging with the them and it's great for dogs that need to get that extra energy out as well as stopping for water breaks and slowing back down to a brisk walk to help build endurance.

Walks done at owner's preference. I usually walk the dog(s) I am sitting for and then separately walk my own dog afterwards. Walks are usually at least 20-30 minutes in length. The bigger or more youthful the dog, the longer the walk. Again, this can be up to the owner's preference as well. Walks can be done anywhere dogs are welcome :)

I am willing to take them to a dog park if the customer would like that and I do have a van that will accommodate. I also love to hike and know of many areas to take them. I will be more than happy to play with them and give them as much attention as they need.

Top tips for getting started with a dog walker in Dayton

  1. Look for a dog walker who has passed a background check.
  2. Ask a DogVacay dog walker for a free Meet-n-Greet. Take your pet for a short stroll in Dayton, letting the dog walker hold the leash. You’ll know quickly if this is the right person for your pet.
  3. Then visit your home with the dog walker, so your pet becomes comfortable with this person in the dog’s territory.
  4. Make plans for letting the DogVacay dog walker into your home. Some people may feel comfortable providing a key. Others keep a key in a combination lockbox. Many people use smart locks and programmable key codes.
  5. Discuss the length and route of the walk in your neighborhood in Dayton. Cover what kind of updates you want (such as a “bathroom” log or behavior notes).
  6. Explain what your treat policy is after a walk. Keep treats safely stored, and let the dog walker know where to find them.
  7. Make sure your pet has the right harnesses, collars, leashes and equipment for a safe and fun walk.
