Walks will consist of whatever your dog (s) are used to taking as part of their daily routine. May include walking, jogging, running, fetch, leash/command training and lots of love and affection. I am willing to take your dog(s) to a park or dog park or simply walk them around your neighborhood.

Depending on the type of dog and the request of the owners per dog, I usually like to go by the wants/needs of the owners requests.

I enjoy loving, petting, and being leisurely usually with the animals, as well as really taking the time to look out for the all around health anytime I watch a pet. I really enjoy the wants/needs that fit each dog and or owners requests.

I plan my walks according to what dogs I have. If the dogs in my care enjoy walking together and the same speed and distance, I will walk them all together. I'm also happy to do solo active walks with dogs who require a bit more exercise or solo leisurely walks with older or less active dogs. I like to walk in nearby Woods Park, around the neighborhood, and on the bike trails. I usually take dogs for walks twice a day unless the weather makes it unsafe.

I love walking - and walking a dog makes a walk even more enjoyable. I have experience walking up to two dogs, but am happy to do just one. I tend to go at the pace of the dog, allowing it to have some time sniff and explore. I think it's fun seeing the world from a dog's perspective.

Unless you have multiple dogs, all walks will only take place with your furry companion and will be solo walks which are custom to your pets needs. Whether your dog prefers an upbeat walk or a leisurely stroll, just let me know!

Prior to walking your dog, meet and greets are required to get to know your dog and learn his or her walking styles.

Top tips for getting started with a dog walker in Lincoln

  1. Look for a dog walker who has passed a background check.
  2. Ask a DogVacay dog walker for a free Meet-n-Greet. Take your pet for a short stroll in Lincoln, letting the dog walker hold the leash. You’ll know quickly if this is the right person for your pet.
  3. Then visit your home with the dog walker, so your pet becomes comfortable with this person in the dog’s territory.
  4. Make plans for letting the DogVacay dog walker into your home. Some people may feel comfortable providing a key. Others keep a key in a combination lockbox. Many people use smart locks and programmable key codes.
  5. Discuss the length and route of the walk in your neighborhood in Lincoln. Cover what kind of updates you want (such as a “bathroom” log or behavior notes).
  6. Explain what your treat policy is after a walk. Keep treats safely stored, and let the dog walker know where to find them.
  7. Make sure your pet has the right harnesses, collars, leashes and equipment for a safe and fun walk.
