I love getting dogs the exercise they require-and usually will only take dogs on solo walks since they all have different energy needs.
I can do leisurely, a vigorous walk, long or short runs, whatever they need!

I am a long distance runner so am able to do various sorts of activities. My favorite is to take the pup to running trails by the river or dog parks in the area and do some vigorous walking or light running to get their exercise and fresh air!

Walks can be leisurely or active depending on the type of dog and what the owner wants. I am happy to walk multiple dogs or one. Usually, I like to let the dog stop or go as much as it wants but happy to adjust to whatever the owner wants. I have worked with dogs that pull and are aggressive towards other dogs before so that shouldn't be an issue.

During your dog(s) stay they will have a great time going on several walks throughout the day! Your dog will be accompanied by multiple dogs (typically 3-5) for 1.5-2 miles at a time! I will also take the dogs to a gated in dog park so they have plenty of space to run around for a few hours and a great opportunity to play fetch! For dogs that can't go on walks I have a doggy stroller to push them for an individual ride so they can still feel the sunshine!

Either frenetic or glacial. It depends on your dog. It may help to simply ask how he or she normally walks, heed that, and improvise some later.

The important thing is finding his or her individual style and adapting to it. And I am committed to doing just that!

I have experience walking multiple dogs at once (but not more than 3). I am equipped to handle either leisurely or very active dogs. I am even willing to go on a run if the dog is that energetic! Or a casual stroll for perhaps the older crowd. I am also accustomed to keeping the pets within a safe distance away from the road and on the sidewalk. I will do my best to keep the dog near me and away from other dogs/passersby if desired. I enjoy walking both on city streets or on trails, whatever the pet prefers!

My walks are usually leisurely treks around the neighborhood. I never go with more than two pets at a time, since this time should be safe and relaxed for them. If there are multiple animals in the home, I will take however many walks necessary to ensure everyone gets their time in the fresh air. Your dog takes the lead, as I want him/her to enjoy their time outside. We don't go back until your pet has marked a few spots and fully stretched their legs.

During the week Sarah is the only one available and she is able to handle up to three of your fuzzy friends on a leash at a time, and on weekends Alex will be with and we are able to handle four! We will use poop bags to dispose of their waste and record any changes in their behavior and any physical issues with the dog while we are supervising. We will also provide dogs with cold water especially on hot days. We can also take your dog(s) running if you'd prefer that! :)

I am happy to walk a pup from a leisurely to brisk pace, depending on the dog. I can walk two fairly-well behaved dogs at once, but two is my max. I have experience with most sizes of dogs, from Dachshunds (circa 11 lbs) to big German Shepherds (circa 100 lbs).

Top tips for getting started with a dog walker in Saint Paul

  1. Look for a dog walker who has passed a background check.
  2. Ask a DogVacay dog walker for a free Meet-n-Greet. Take your pet for a short stroll in Saint Paul, letting the dog walker hold the leash. You’ll know quickly if this is the right person for your pet.
  3. Then visit your home with the dog walker, so your pet becomes comfortable with this person in the dog’s territory.
  4. Make plans for letting the DogVacay dog walker into your home. Some people may feel comfortable providing a key. Others keep a key in a combination lockbox. Many people use smart locks and programmable key codes.
  5. Discuss the length and route of the walk in your neighborhood in Saint Paul. Cover what kind of updates you want (such as a “bathroom” log or behavior notes).
  6. Explain what your treat policy is after a walk. Keep treats safely stored, and let the dog walker know where to find them.
  7. Make sure your pet has the right harnesses, collars, leashes and equipment for a safe and fun walk.
