I am available for walks around the neighborhood along their favorite route for exciting smells, new scenery and exercise. A walk can also include a stop for play at the park and other of their favorite activities. I also like to talk to my dogs on the walk so they can show me what they would like to do and reassure them how great they are doing with a new person.

It depends entirely on the dog. A larger, athletic dog with energy to burn needs a longer, more strenuous walk. I choose routes that require walking uphill or up/down stairs to help bigger dogs flex their muscles. Smaller dogs need shorter walks and less strenuous routes.

I also have experience biking with dogs. This is a great way for young athletic dogs to burn off energy. When biking with a dog I stick to trails and side streets as much as possible. I will only take your dog on a bike ride with your express written permission. It's great exercise for your dog and generally safe, but there is more risk involved than there is in a normal walk.

I will walk up to two dogs at a time. I prefer they are smaller to medium sized dogs.
I 'm used to leash pullers but if you have one a harness is preferred over the neck leash to keep it more comfortable on your dog.

Leisure to moderate paced walks. We can go around the lakes or close to the owners home it's up to you.

I like to get a little exercise out of my walks so they tend to be fast and energetic. We can go for a walk or a run depending on the type of dog and age. I like to make sure the dog gets a good workout in so they are happy when they are dropped back off at home. For the dogs that don't like the energetic walks, that might be older or just can't handle to Minnesota humidity, I make it a casual walk just to get out and get some fresh air. Each dog is different and I just want to make sure they are happy and tired or just happy at the end of their walks.

My walks can be active or slow, whatever you would prefer for your animal. I can walk two dogs at a time, more than that can become a handful. If you would like me to work on keeping your dog by my side while walking, I can do that. I will let your dog sniff everything he/she wants, only if you would prefer. I am a girl that cares for the environment, so I make sure everything dropped is picked up, no worries on that end.

Walks can be leisurely and slow for older, less active pups, or runs for those who need more exercise! Multiple dogs are welcome but if you prefer it to be solo, that can be arranged. I am well versed in Dog parks in the area and park visits are absolutely possible to play fetch and socialize as well!

I am willing to walk or run, depending on your pet's energy levels. I love playing in parks with animals, if they have a favorite toy they like to chase after I will bring that along as well. I can walk up to three dogs at one time, however that is under the assumption that they are able to walk next to each other without being bothered by one another.

I would play fetch with your pooch. I will always bring water bowls and treats along. Take pictures of your pooch and send them to you so you can see how much fun they are having!
Depending on the weather, I would make sure your companion is wearing proper attire (booties to protect their paws from getting too hot or cold, sweaters when it is too cold).

Walks are either leisurely or an active rollerblading-based exercise, depending on the specific dog's needs, the owner's request, and my ability to provide the service based on environmental factors. The Stone Arch Bridge is one of my favorite walking resources because it is paved, flat, and has garbage cans for poop disposal. Additional dogs will be $5 each. All small details and specifications, such as type of walk requested, how many dogs, time of day of walks, etc. will be discussed with the owner and tailored to their canine.

I would be willing to do whatever the dog is most comfortable with. I have grown up with old and young dogs of different breeds so I know that all dogs are a little different. I could walk up to 3 dogs at a time - if they all get along well. I have dealt with dogs that pull and get distracted easily - so this wouldn't be an issue for me :)

Top tips for getting started with a dog walker in Minneapolis

  1. Look for a dog walker who has passed a background check.
  2. Ask a DogVacay dog walker for a free Meet-n-Greet. Take your pet for a short stroll in Minneapolis, letting the dog walker hold the leash. You’ll know quickly if this is the right person for your pet.
  3. Then visit your home with the dog walker, so your pet becomes comfortable with this person in the dog’s territory.
  4. Make plans for letting the DogVacay dog walker into your home. Some people may feel comfortable providing a key. Others keep a key in a combination lockbox. Many people use smart locks and programmable key codes.
  5. Discuss the length and route of the walk in your neighborhood in Minneapolis. Cover what kind of updates you want (such as a “bathroom” log or behavior notes).
  6. Explain what your treat policy is after a walk. Keep treats safely stored, and let the dog walker know where to find them.
  7. Make sure your pet has the right harnesses, collars, leashes and equipment for a safe and fun walk.
