I will fit the walk to your dog!

Does your dog need to go for long walks, maybe go slower, or even visit an off-leash park? Do they need to cross the street to avoid people or other dogs? Or maybe need to make lots of stops to sniff around?

I will accommodate you and your dog's needs!

I am up for anything! I like to discuss with the owners before I make a decision on what type of walk we will be doing. I am also willing to walk more than one dog at a time.
I love trail walks and hikes but I also enjoy walking around the city. It is completely up to the owner.

I am an active dog walker! Depending on the size of the dogs, I can handle walking between 2 and 5 of your puppies, We can walk around the block, around the yard(if they don't like the outdoors), or we can find our way to one of the dog parks in the city to let them go and wear themselves out, while visiting with other puppies.
I try to maintain an active pace while giving them time to make sure their territories are still as big as they've made it previously, as well as limiting involvement with the evil, evil cats that may cross our paths. :-P

I can take up to two dogs for a walk at a time. I can take them to the dog park if they like to socialize with other dogs. If they enjoy playing with balls while going for walks I can do that too. Also casual walks are an option as well just a walk around a park or even the community whatever works best!

When I take my dog out for a walk we go for a pretty active walk around my neighborhood (Wildewood) and I feel comfortable taking more than 1 dog at a time. When the golfing season is finished I take her out on the Wildewood golf course so she can go off her leash to run around. I would not have more than one dog off the leash at once and would never let your dog off leash if it is something you are not comfortable with. I do also like to throw the ball around in the large backyard which is fully fenced.

Walks vary depending on the pets I am with and can be leisurely and active. Sometimes I will walk multiple dogs at once, or I can take each one on their own. I'm very focused on making sure each animal has his/her needs met, so I'll keep up with whatever pace they're going, whether they like to be active and fast, or smell the flowers leisurely. Assiniboine Park is about a mile away, so walks around that area in the fresh air are very likely!

We live close to a beautiful walking trail along side a winding creek (Bunn's Creek), this our favourite walk - the dogs love it. I usually walk the entire trail with is about 3 km. If your dog loves walks like our Molly does this will be a big hit. For the not so adventurous, I also take a leisurely walk along the walking/bicycle path.

Leisurely or semi-active. I am good for a nice leisurely walk or more of an active time at the dog park. I can handle a fast paced walk with bits of jogging, but I would not be able to take your pet for a full jog.

Prefer only two at a time, but can handle more based on your dogs personality/activity level.

Top tips for getting started with a dog walker in Winnipeg

  1. Look for a dog walker who has passed a background check.
  2. Ask a DogVacay dog walker for a free Meet-n-Greet. Take your pet for a short stroll in Winnipeg, letting the dog walker hold the leash. You’ll know quickly if this is the right person for your pet.
  3. Then visit your home with the dog walker, so your pet becomes comfortable with this person in the dog’s territory.
  4. Make plans for letting the DogVacay dog walker into your home. Some people may feel comfortable providing a key. Others keep a key in a combination lockbox. Many people use smart locks and programmable key codes.
  5. Discuss the length and route of the walk in your neighborhood in Winnipeg. Cover what kind of updates you want (such as a “bathroom” log or behavior notes).
  6. Explain what your treat policy is after a walk. Keep treats safely stored, and let the dog walker know where to find them.
  7. Make sure your pet has the right harnesses, collars, leashes and equipment for a safe and fun walk.
