I have two dogs at home that I used to walk, but now that I am in college and my home is in Colorado, I can't anymore. Anyways, my poodle would just need leisure walks about 30 minutes everyday around the neighborhood. I also have a german shepherd that would need active walking/running. So usually I would take him out for a run for about 30-45 minutes at least everyday or every other day. I used to sit my neighbors dogs every once in awhile and so I know how to walk multiple dogs at once.

To offer focused care, walks would be just me and your fur-baby(ies). Each walk would be tailored to your pet's needs-i.e. rest breaks or slower pace for older dogs, more vigorous and active for younger dogs. Dog parks are also an option for making sure your loved one gets all the exercise they need to keep them fit and active.

I give either leisurely walks or energy run outs. I usually take one dog at a time unless I have walked them before and know how they react to cars, people , other dogs etc. If I am familiar and the dogs are small I might take 2 at a time. We walk the bike path, parks, up by the Keeper of the plains, or in your neighborhood . We can take toys like a Frisbee, ball , or maybe a disc. I like to walk down by the river walk behind century two , its a little cooler down by the water. Or we might travel out to Lake Afton. By request I will take your dogs to the dog parks . I like to take the dogs for their walks early in the morning or early evening. We wont be walking on the asphalt or cement if it is very warm , we will stick to grassy areas so their little paws don't get burned. They can crack after burning, this is very painful for them, so we wont . Don't usually walk dogs in the rain or snow. I don't walk during the hottest parts of the day , it isn't good for the dog and it isn't good for me. I can tell you I will do my best to get them the exercise they need !!!!! Normally I will travel to you up to 10 miles. Beyond 10 miles from me to you there is an extra charge depending on how far away you live.

I like to take long walks at the dogs' preferred pace. I really enjoy taking our lovely walks in a safe, grassy area where we can soak in as many warm sunbeams as possible. Playing a fetching game of ball is always an option and enjoyed! I enjoy one on one time with my furry friends or the more the merrier!

I will adjust my walking routine to fit your dogs every need and walk in whichever location you prefer! Usually, I will take any dogs that are under my care for a leashed walk around my neighborhood, which includes several Cul de Sac's and two parks! At the end of the walk I always play with the dogs in my large backyard until they are sufficiently tuckered out!

Top tips for getting started with a dog walker in Wichita

  1. Look for a dog walker who has passed a background check.
  2. Ask a DogVacay dog walker for a free Meet-n-Greet. Take your pet for a short stroll in Wichita, letting the dog walker hold the leash. You’ll know quickly if this is the right person for your pet.
  3. Then visit your home with the dog walker, so your pet becomes comfortable with this person in the dog’s territory.
  4. Make plans for letting the DogVacay dog walker into your home. Some people may feel comfortable providing a key. Others keep a key in a combination lockbox. Many people use smart locks and programmable key codes.
  5. Discuss the length and route of the walk in your neighborhood in Wichita. Cover what kind of updates you want (such as a “bathroom” log or behavior notes).
  6. Explain what your treat policy is after a walk. Keep treats safely stored, and let the dog walker know where to find them.
  7. Make sure your pet has the right harnesses, collars, leashes and equipment for a safe and fun walk.
