My dog walks are usually either leisurely or active depending on the age and or health of the dog. I have two dogs of my own and often walk/care for others so I'm very comfortable with multiple leashes. I am an avid outdoorsman so I come prepared with appropriate gear for inclement weather. When dogs stay at my home we usually go for a very long walk in a park every weekend.

I moved here recently from San Francisco so I'm looking for a valid reason to be outside and a completely willing partner to explore with.
I grew up with a 225lb Great Dane so I can manage the big guys and my most recent dog was a 55lb terroir mutt.
We ran 5 miles a day, two 1-2 mile walks a day, one 10 mile walk a week and multiple trips to the dog park. He was the reason I lost 40lbs in a year and also a very enjoyable and rewarding reason to leave the house.
I live across the street from my work and with everything else being so few and far between its hard to find a reason to get out and walk around.

Walks can be different everyday. If the dog is feeling more relaxed then it will be a leisurely walk. If he/she is in a playful mood we can be more active and run a little bit. I am used to walking multiple dogs, so I'm okay with one or more. Every walk is an adventure.

Having 2 dogs of my own, I usually start our walk by giving them a chance to go to the bathroom and then allow them to choose their own path (route) around the neighborhood. Sometimes I will run and play with them and I usually walk 2 dogs at a time. I take them to local parks to walk as well (not dog parks).

I tend to just go on leisurely walks, however I don't mind doing more active walks. It's a win- win! I get exercise while the dogs do too! I can handle two to three small dogs at a time, and solo dogs are very easy, no matter the size. I love big and small dogs all the same

I am a stay at home mom to my son, and my husband works nights. I have been around dogs and cats for my entire life, there isn't one time where we didn't have at least one dog or cat. I have also volunteered at the Boone County Humane Society. I have a two-year-old Border Collie/German Shepherd mix named Sebastian and a five-year-old cat named Miss (both spayed and neutered.) They are both also up-to-date on their shots. Sebastian would love a play mate, he loves to run around in our yard and play fetch, and in the summer he gets to run around in the baby pool or run in the sprinkler! My dog has separation anxiety so I want someone to feel comfortable leaving their dog with me if they suffer from the same thing. The first thing I do in the morning is turn on VeggieTales for my son, start my coffee, then Sebastian goes outside to run around. I promise your dog will never be bored here!

I live in a two bed two bath home, but the attic and basement have stair access. The dogs will have free roam around the house but we have doors in almost every room in the house. The bathroom has a child lock on it because it does not latch, but with the child lock it does! That's also where our cat stays to avoid all dogs. I can also shut the hallway door so the dogs only have access to the living room, dining room, kitchen, and entryway to the backyard. Everything is hardwood so there is no carpet to worry about! I will always be playing with them! If your dog usually sleeps with you that's no problem, they can enjoy our bed as well as the couch their crate or wherever else they'd like.

There are parks nearby but I prefer to take the dogs down town, which I live about 10 to 15 minutes from, or we could go to the monon trails. There are not any busy streets that the dogs would have access to. We never use our front door, because we have a garage door that opens inside of the gated area. So if we do happen to go anywhere there will be nowhere for those escape artist to go!

Your dog will enjoy plenty of cuddles, running around in the yard, if it's a warm day they can also enjoy the baby pool and sprinkler, I have a flirt pole that the dogs can also play with and tons of toys and treats!

No breed or size preferences, my dog has been around them all. He may be big but he is a super friendly dog with a big bark! When you arrive for your dog stay I will meet you in the front for the dogs to me, if they get along OK then we could move around to the backyard for them to have some off leash is fun! You're also welcome to walk around to see where your dog will be staying!

Walks will be based off the owners requests. If no directions or request are made, I will learn what your pet(s) are most happy with and make it enjoyable for them and myself as well. I am always happy to try and keep their walking routine as close to normal, or I can give them a whole new experience, if the owner(s) are looking for something fresh and exciting for their pet(s). I am able to walk 1- 3 dogs at once if needed.

I don't mind jogging, romping around with, and playing with your dog. I love animals so it's no bother to get down on their level. You can request how I walk your dog if you want it to be a playful walk, a simple and leisurely walk, or just your dog.

I am big on walking, so unless the weather is absolutely horrendous, you can expect your pup to be walked a MINIMUM of 20-30 minutes per day. I often take 2 dogs on a walk at a time. I try to group them according to age, activity level, etc. For example, younger or high-energy dogs will get a more fast-paced, longer walk, and older or less-active pups will get a shorter, slower paced walk. If you have any specific needs for your pooch, please let me know!

I like to take advantage of the parks Indianapolis has to offer. So, I would be more than happy to take them around Indy's scenic views. I usually tend to stick to dog parks that allow for dogs to have a little more room to run.

Usual walks will be leisure when in a public area. I can walk up to 4 dogs at that pace.

Top tips for getting started with a dog walker in Indianapolis

  1. Look for a dog walker who has passed a background check.
  2. Ask a DogVacay dog walker for a free Meet-n-Greet. Take your pet for a short stroll in Indianapolis, letting the dog walker hold the leash. You’ll know quickly if this is the right person for your pet.
  3. Then visit your home with the dog walker, so your pet becomes comfortable with this person in the dog’s territory.
  4. Make plans for letting the DogVacay dog walker into your home. Some people may feel comfortable providing a key. Others keep a key in a combination lockbox. Many people use smart locks and programmable key codes.
  5. Discuss the length and route of the walk in your neighborhood in Indianapolis. Cover what kind of updates you want (such as a “bathroom” log or behavior notes).
  6. Explain what your treat policy is after a walk. Keep treats safely stored, and let the dog walker know where to find them.
  7. Make sure your pet has the right harnesses, collars, leashes and equipment for a safe and fun walk.
