I typically walk at a leisurely pace. I can pick up the pace if your dog is more active, or even take them for a run if that's what they enjoy. I usually walk my dog just around the neighborhood or through the community forest. I usually walk for about thirty minutes, but I can vary my time based on your dog’s needs.

I walk both leisurely and actively. I am able to walk with multiple dogs or alone. It is entirely up to the owner/dog preference. Leisurely walks include a causal pace where the dog, or multiple dogs are relaxed and can enjoy the relaxation of a walk. Active walks have an upbeat pace and may include jogging or running. I definitely enjoy jogging or running with dogs if that is a preference and I am in active shape where that would be a definite option. I also enjoy walking either first thing in the morning or an hour or so before sunset. However, I am also open to walking midday. My walks may last anywhere between 20-60 minutes, depending on the dog/owner preference.

Hello!
I'm accustomed to walking my family's two dogs twice a day around our neighborhood. An ideal dog walk (with the ideal weather) would be walking out to a neighborhood park like Bryan or Olcott, and playing there for a bit. I've also had my eye on visiting the dog park on the north side of town if the dog is sociable and not too anxious.
My dogs were never the jog partner type (sadly) but I am up for trying it out!

Depending on the dog's needs I can make the walk leisurely but also able to give a pup a good work out. I grew up with three dogs and am used to walking multiple dogs at the same time, especially dogs with different walking styles. If there is a dog that needs a lot of exercise I am willing to take them to a dog park or find another space to let them run and burn off energy. I also love hiking and if your dog enjoys that for exercise I would be more than willing to go on an adventure.

I can walk any dogs up to 2 at a time. I will allow them to play or run or walk or sit; it's really up to the pet. In the winter when it gets colder and darker, the walks will be shorter and the purpose will be to let the dogs go to the bathroom. In the summer and spring time when the weather is nicer, I will take them outside to play, take them on walks, and let them be outside for a longer amount of time.

Depending on what is nearby, I enjoy doing different things when taking my dogs for a walk. I enjoy hiking and going on wooded trails at local state parks. It's always a good time to utilize any yard space or find an open grass area nearby to play fetch. I generally enjoy playing with dogs one on one, but if you have several that get along well together, then that is a great treat.

Top tips for getting started with a dog walker in Bloomington

  1. Look for a dog walker who has passed a background check.
  2. Ask a DogVacay dog walker for a free Meet-n-Greet. Take your pet for a short stroll in Bloomington, letting the dog walker hold the leash. You’ll know quickly if this is the right person for your pet.
  3. Then visit your home with the dog walker, so your pet becomes comfortable with this person in the dog’s territory.
  4. Make plans for letting the DogVacay dog walker into your home. Some people may feel comfortable providing a key. Others keep a key in a combination lockbox. Many people use smart locks and programmable key codes.
  5. Discuss the length and route of the walk in your neighborhood in Bloomington. Cover what kind of updates you want (such as a “bathroom” log or behavior notes).
  6. Explain what your treat policy is after a walk. Keep treats safely stored, and let the dog walker know where to find them.
  7. Make sure your pet has the right harnesses, collars, leashes and equipment for a safe and fun walk.
