My walks are usually leisurely, sometimes active. I am not much of a runner but I love going on long walks up to sometimes two hours. Usually I walk dogs one at a time, but I have done two dogs in the past. It works best if they know each other and get along. Most of my experience with walking dogs was with a Labrador Retriever and a Yorkie.

I work from home, so I am able to be home with the dogs all day. Occasionally I have to go in to the office, but my boyfriend is always at home to stay with them. I have experience caring for dogs for 15 years, including an elderly Boston Terrier, which lived to be 16. I currently have a dog who is a German Shepherd mix, who I rescued. He is great with other dogs, and loves to play.

I will allow pets to sleep where they wish, and roam as they please, while keeping an eye on them to make sure they don't cause any trouble. Plus, I will give them lots of loving, attention, and treats! They will be treated as if they were my own and nothing less, including getting to sleep in the bed! (if you allow your pup to of course)

I will follow your requested schedule for walking and feeding. I provide a minimum of 4 walks a day, but that can definitely be adjusted to your preferences/needs. My dog is 110 pounds and is always at my home, however he gets along with dogs of all sizes and ages. He is a gentle giant, don't let his size distract you from the big baby that he really is! He was very caring and gentle with my 16 year old Boston Terrier, and every single dog that he's came into contact with. He would love to have friends stay over, to keep him company and play with!

There are two different dog parks on my block, that I will take the dogs to so they can run and play! Both are fenced in. One is gravel, and the other is grass. All the dogs I take there have plenty of fun, and love to run around and play.

If you have any specific questions or concerns, please contact me. I'm willing to handle all types of dogs, no matter breed or personality (assuming they can at least manage to get along with my pup) I assure you, your child will be in great hands and staying in a loving, welcoming home!

**Please keep in mind that when boarding overnight, the rate charged is for a 24 hour or less period. I am very flexible with pick up and drop off times, but please notify me in advance of your planned times. I've had instances where a dog has been dropped off at 6 am, and picked up a few days later at 11pm. This ends up being a 41 hour stay vs 24 hrs. This also makes it difficult for others to use my services, because I only have a maximum of 3 dogs with me at a time, which doesn't allow others to book overnight. I'm sure I will be able to accommodate your schedule, please just try to let me know the best you can in advance, and we will work something out! Thank you!**

Leisurely but far walks. Will do up to two dogs at a time and will go to the park to lengthen walk. I like to spend time with the dogs and go at their pace to form a bond and make them feel like we can communicate. A walk is an important part of having a dog in your life so I like to do them often and well.

It depends on if the dog likes to stroll or if he likes to run around. Either works for me! I prefer to only walk one dog unless the dogs know each other etc. I think routines are best for them so I would prefer to take him or her somewhere familiar and follow the routine of his family.

As a European I love walking and hiking and do both of the activities a lot on my own. However I definitely enjoy it more if I have a four legged company. My favorite place for walks in Chicago is in parks around lake Michigan.

I prefer longer walks because there is hardly time to see anything in 30 minutes. When I used to dog walk in Seattle, I used to take the dogs out for at least an hour, usually two - three hours walks so we all got a good exercise for the day.

My dogs walks are geared towards how the dog likes to walk. Active if the dog likes to walk more than sniff; leisurely if the dog likes to sniff around. I always go to grassy areas because a lot of dogs only like using the bathroom on grass. I live right next to Millennium Park and Lake Shore East Park (which has a dog park).

My walk with a dog can be very leisure and active. I would usually walk them from the house towards the dog park or any other open grass park. It could take 20min to 30 min, or longer to get to the destination. When we get to the park, I would play fetch with a dog to get some exercise of the day. If the dog prefers to be only walking, I could give the dog nice and long stroll around the neighborhood.

I usually take a leisurely stroll with the dog (or dogs) on the lakeshore or around the block, depending on their activity level and familiarity with humans and other dogs. If the doggo likes other dogs, I take them to the dog park to get some interaction and play time.

My walks will depend on your dog's needs. Some are more energetic and need an active walk. Others like to take their time. I will only walk your dog on its own unless you have more than one and we can walk together. We'll go to a dog park if there is one near by and your dog's personality allows.

I am a very active person and will do whatever the dog wants! I can run or walk, go to the park or anything that his/her furry heart desires! I will do solo walks, so I can give your dog all of my attention. There are many parks near me and I would love to take your dog to one!

Top tips for getting started with a dog walker in Chicago

  1. Look for a dog walker who has passed a background check.
  2. Ask a DogVacay dog walker for a free Meet-n-Greet. Take your pet for a short stroll in Chicago, letting the dog walker hold the leash. You’ll know quickly if this is the right person for your pet.
  3. Then visit your home with the dog walker, so your pet becomes comfortable with this person in the dog’s territory.
  4. Make plans for letting the DogVacay dog walker into your home. Some people may feel comfortable providing a key. Others keep a key in a combination lockbox. Many people use smart locks and programmable key codes.
  5. Discuss the length and route of the walk in your neighborhood in Chicago. Cover what kind of updates you want (such as a “bathroom” log or behavior notes).
  6. Explain what your treat policy is after a walk. Keep treats safely stored, and let the dog walker know where to find them.
  7. Make sure your pet has the right harnesses, collars, leashes and equipment for a safe and fun walk.
