I live near the trail in Smyrna and take the dogs for walks along the trail. I like to take long walk earlier in the morning and then bathroom breaks during the day and a short walk in the evening during the summer. In the winter time will take short walk midday.

I start with a leisurely stroll first so the pet and I can get acquainted and comfortable. Also, to see the behavior of the animal in an outside environment. After my assessment, I will determine when I give an active or leisure walk from that day on.

My walks vary by dog and if there is more than one dog present. I can leisurely walk if the dog wants to smell around, or commit more to an active walk or jog to allow the dog(s) more exercise. I am very flexible to the needs of the dogs at hand. It is important to allow them the time to get the exercise and outdoor fun time they need.

I'm a very active person so your dog will have a great walk preferably with multiple dogs since I love to walk packs of dogs unless the clients require a solo walk. Long walk and hikes are my daily choices. Weather walk around the neighborhood or even going to a trail or a mountain.

I love getting outside in the fresh air with pups! I'm happy to walk at whatever pace the dog is comfortable with. Typically, I find that pups are perkier in the morning when it's cooler out and enjoy a more active walk in the morning with leisurely walks later in the day. If the dogs walk at the same pace, I will take multiple at a time.

Unless your dog is particularly large or rambunctious, there shouldn't be any problem. Multiple well-behaved dogs are fine. Level of activity for the walk will depend on the dog's mood and energy - I won't push them harder than they want to go, or hold them back (barring any health concerns, of course).

Well hello there, Summer heat got you beat? Leave it up to me to walk your dog. Leisure walks our my favorite (up to 3 dogs)! But I welcome active walks as well (Up to 2 dogs). Please advise if you prefer to have your dog walked solo. Larger dogs will automatically be walked solo. Thanks! Christina

Top tips for getting started with a dog walker in Smyrna

  1. Look for a dog walker who has passed a background check.
  2. Ask a DogVacay dog walker for a free Meet-n-Greet. Take your pet for a short stroll in Smyrna, letting the dog walker hold the leash. You’ll know quickly if this is the right person for your pet.
  3. Then visit your home with the dog walker, so your pet becomes comfortable with this person in the dog’s territory.
  4. Make plans for letting the DogVacay dog walker into your home. Some people may feel comfortable providing a key. Others keep a key in a combination lockbox. Many people use smart locks and programmable key codes.
  5. Discuss the length and route of the walk in your neighborhood in Smyrna. Cover what kind of updates you want (such as a “bathroom” log or behavior notes).
  6. Explain what your treat policy is after a walk. Keep treats safely stored, and let the dog walker know where to find them.
  7. Make sure your pet has the right harnesses, collars, leashes and equipment for a safe and fun walk.
