Walks are based on how the owner would like their dogs to be walked. Depending on the dog it's either a slow leisurely walk or a power walk. I'm working on being able to do light jogs with dogs as well. My walks are one household at a time so I can give my full attention to individual dogs.

Yoda and I usually go for leisurely long walks. We try to get in 3 miles depending on the weather. Yoda tends to get a little distracted so i never run with him on the leash. If you're dog is a runner I'd love to go for a run! I could definitely walk another dog with Yoda.

We live in a great area, tree lined streets that make walking in the mornings comfortable and fun for our guests. An evening walk is usually after dinner and those are just as nice. Our guests enjoy the full access to our home, the sofas with pillows to make a nap extra special. We are careful to do meet and greets so when your baby visits it is sharing our home with Sadie (Our host pup) and other guests of the same age, size, demeanor and likes. We do have several senior guests that return over and over because we can keep their medications and special needs met. One of the fun things is our large basket of toys that each dog can search and find a special buddy to chew or cuddle with. Playing ball in the back yard and exploring the flower beds looking for Mr Squirrel. The large lanai makes the evenings listening to music or watching TV spread out on the furniture getting cuddled and loved. Special treats on movie nights (if Mommy or Daddy agree they can) with the promise of lots of love.

Our dog is nearly ten years old and has osteoarthritis so our walks are generally leisurely and not lengthy. We can accommodate any type of walk your dog may need or is accustomed to. We can walk multiple dogs at one time or just one if that is what is needed.

Depending on the dog, it can be leisurely or active, or a little bit of both! Activities can be as high energy or controlled as they like, with many different toys and games. If they want their dog to be solo on a walk it can be, or there can be other dogs on the walk as well to help them to better socialize.

My walks are tailored to my pack. Puppies and senior dogs have more leisurely walks while adolescent and adult dogs I will run, cycle, or skate with. I prefer to walk in packs of up to 4 dogs unless I have a dog who needs to be cared for individually. I tend to walk dogs in their own neighborhood and will transport dogs to a more pedestrian friendly area as needed.

I have had my own pet sitting business when I lived in Wilmington, N.C. and the eastern portion of Long Island, NY. I have several references from former pet owners that I can submit. My home has a full fenced in backyard with an attached garage and concrete patio... I always allow pets full access to my home and some of them if they choose to sleep with me... (the smaller doggie's).. They get plenty of attention and exercise.. and always return to their owners very happy.

Top tips for getting started with a dog walker in Saint Petersburg

  1. Look for a dog walker who has passed a background check.
  2. Ask a DogVacay dog walker for a free Meet-n-Greet. Take your pet for a short stroll in Saint Petersburg, letting the dog walker hold the leash. You’ll know quickly if this is the right person for your pet.
  3. Then visit your home with the dog walker, so your pet becomes comfortable with this person in the dog’s territory.
  4. Make plans for letting the DogVacay dog walker into your home. Some people may feel comfortable providing a key. Others keep a key in a combination lockbox. Many people use smart locks and programmable key codes.
  5. Discuss the length and route of the walk in your neighborhood in Saint Petersburg. Cover what kind of updates you want (such as a “bathroom” log or behavior notes).
  6. Explain what your treat policy is after a walk. Keep treats safely stored, and let the dog walker know where to find them.
  7. Make sure your pet has the right harnesses, collars, leashes and equipment for a safe and fun walk.
