I enjoy exercising with dogs and am very fit. I have no problem running upwards of 7 miles with your dog, as I regularly do run these distances. I live at the Conservancy so I can also take dogs for nature walks on the Greenway pathway which is very popular. I have no problems running or being with up to 3 large dogs or 4 smaller dogs. I would love to help tire your dog out if he/she is younger or keep the heart of your older dog healthy with long slow, walks!

Typical walk is in the pack with my two retrievers.
In the Florida heat we do the long walk either early morning or after sunset for at least an hour, where-/whenever possible off-leash and with swimming opportunities (amazingly dogs form packs very quickly and then stay with the pack when walking and/or playing).
Smaller walks with ball play in-between.
Occasionally dog beach excursions for the water lovers.
Sometimes play dates with two neighbors dogs which is always great fun.
Whenever a customer's dog cannot be off-leash at all but still wants to run then we go to dog parks for ball play time or I take them on a bike ride individually.

Exercise - if wanted - is guaranteed. It never gets boring in this household :-)

Walks will depend on breed, age and needs of the dogs. I have 3 blind seniors, their walks are slow and I also take a doggy stroller. As Lily and Penny are not able to walk very far at all. So are in and out of the stroller. Active dogs will be given a walk appropriate to their age and energy level.. We can also visit the dog park, with owners consent. For supervised, off the leash play time. With other size appropriate dogs..

Leisurely walks with up to 3 leashed dogs. If they don't run away, they can have free run of several acres while supervised, or hang outside unsupervised. Parent's choice.

My dog Spartacus runs, so he enjoys laying outside while tethered to an overhead run. We walk the perimeter of the yard several times a day with him leashed.

I enjoy walking dogs and seeing them get exercise and happy. I tend to walk dogs for 20 -30 minutes or if otherwise told specifically by the owner to walk a certain amount of time. Most owners ask for about 30 minutes. I find that on hot days some dogs can get tired quickly, I especially notice this among older, geriatric dogs. They can't do a 30 minute walk very well, especially if they have some medical issues or arthritis. I have walked 2 dogs together on several occasions. I had to walk 2 Labradors. I had to walk them separate during the day. They both were between 90-100 pounds. They were both territorial but together they were worse and could be challenging walking them both. I would walk them in the evening at dark, when most people were not walking. I also visited dog parks with dogs. It is a nice place for them to run free and allows me to relax a bit. I have walked 2 dogs, one young and a bit crazy, along with a geriatric one. It wasn't too difficult. I did avoid walking in the same circles of other dogs being walked. Being caught in a thunderstorm was challenging with trying to get the older dog to move faster. I like to give food rewards if it is approved by the owner. Giving their kibble as treats is a healthier choice than junk food treats. I live by a park and like taking dogs there for exercise and playtime. I enjoy seeing them being happy dogs.

I have a few favorite parks that my family, & I frequent that are animal friendly. Accompanied by a few bottles of water, Fido, and I will stroll along the paths in either this park, or their neighborhood, or even the local doggie park. I always carry additional water with me. Many times I've had to share my water with other owners, whose pups are thirsty, and weren't provided for. If the owner allows (weekends only) there's even a doggie beach in the next county.

all walks are solo walks unless you own animals that are used to being walked together at the same time. I pace the walk for the age and energy level of the dog. Typically the ideal walk allows time for the dog(s) to pee and poop at least once and some regulated exercise time.

Top tips for getting started with a dog walker in Naples

  1. Look for a dog walker who has passed a background check.
  2. Ask a DogVacay dog walker for a free Meet-n-Greet. Take your pet for a short stroll in Naples, letting the dog walker hold the leash. You’ll know quickly if this is the right person for your pet.
  3. Then visit your home with the dog walker, so your pet becomes comfortable with this person in the dog’s territory.
  4. Make plans for letting the DogVacay dog walker into your home. Some people may feel comfortable providing a key. Others keep a key in a combination lockbox. Many people use smart locks and programmable key codes.
  5. Discuss the length and route of the walk in your neighborhood in Naples. Cover what kind of updates you want (such as a “bathroom” log or behavior notes).
  6. Explain what your treat policy is after a walk. Keep treats safely stored, and let the dog walker know where to find them.
  7. Make sure your pet has the right harnesses, collars, leashes and equipment for a safe and fun walk.
