Walks are leisurely. Most of the time I walk with one dog, but depending on the dog and how they are on the leash, sometimes I will walk more than one. I enjoy scoping out the area I'm dog walking in and visit parks and bike/hike trails. I always provide water on trips as well as treats in needed for training purposes.

There will be a mixture between long, leisurely walks down the street, going on longer runs, and going to the park/dog park to play fetch with his/her toys or play with other dogs. The dog will be walked whichever way fits the owner's and dog's best interests.

Depending on the dogs age and mobility, walks can be leisurely to brisk. I can jog on solo walks. I try to stay off of main roads and in the shade. I stop and attempt to have the dogs sit at street crossings. We will definitely stop by the local park if it is in range of our walking distance, or the dog park if the dog is well-behaved. A bowl and water will be packed along for a drink along the way as well as bags for droppings. We will definitely stop and take selfies to send to you.

In general, dog walks would be at a leisurely pace with periods of higher activity. I can walk multiple dogs at a time, especially if they are used to each other. I would have no issue walking dogs seperately as well. I am willing to make any accommodations that owners would like me to make regarding walks.

Leisurely walk. See the world. Make some friends. Multiple dogs ok. Spend some time on the leash and see the neighbors. Will work on leash training if requested. For well-behaved dogs- time can also be used for a trip to the dog park. Can't wait to meet you!

Depending on the client's personal requests, dogs will be taken for solo walks (unless they are accompanied by siblings from the same home) in various national/state parks in the area. If your pet enjoys swimming, fetch, or other specific activities, I will ensure that they receive a variety of activity options during their stay with me. If your pets enjoy playing with other dogs, I love to take pups to the dog park where they can run/play/swim at their leisure!

I love taking dogs for walks (even though it’s 95 degrees out everyday)! Previous times where I have dog sat, we roamed around my apartment for short walks. Also, finding a good dog park or walking trail is ideal. I love taking dogs to the beach as well! I always make sure to bring a bag to clean up, as well as a bottle of water and maybe a few treats, depending on how long the walk will be. Since it’s been an especially hot summer here in Tampa, I know some dogs don’t want to be out for long walks. I like to take dogs for leisurely walks and allow them to take the lead. I grew up with a beagle in my home and loved taking him out for walks and letting him sniff around. Taking dogs for walks is a great bonding experience and allows them to get some of their energy out after hanging inside most of the day! It’s great to go for a long walk together, both get in some exercise, and then come back to relax in the air conditioning. I love animals and want one of my own soon! Being in Graduate school, I don’t have enough time to have my own full time pet. This is a great opportunity for me to help someone else out with their animal and also get to hang out with someone else’s animal! I’m excited for this experience and hope to be in touch soon.

Depending on the dog's health and age, walks will vary from leisurely to active. Only dogs from one home will be walked at any one time. If the dogs get along, they will be walked together. If not, dogs will be walked separately to ensure that they get the time they need to themselves.

I usually take the dog out on the backyard in the morning right after I wake up. I'll have breakfast and he would have something to eat too depending on their eating schedule. We will play catch later on outside in the afternoon, and around 5pm we would go for a 35min walk.

Top tips for getting started with a dog walker in Gainesville

  1. Look for a dog walker who has passed a background check.
  2. Ask a DogVacay dog walker for a free Meet-n-Greet. Take your pet for a short stroll in Gainesville, letting the dog walker hold the leash. You’ll know quickly if this is the right person for your pet.
  3. Then visit your home with the dog walker, so your pet becomes comfortable with this person in the dog’s territory.
  4. Make plans for letting the DogVacay dog walker into your home. Some people may feel comfortable providing a key. Others keep a key in a combination lockbox. Many people use smart locks and programmable key codes.
  5. Discuss the length and route of the walk in your neighborhood in Gainesville. Cover what kind of updates you want (such as a “bathroom” log or behavior notes).
  6. Explain what your treat policy is after a walk. Keep treats safely stored, and let the dog walker know where to find them.
  7. Make sure your pet has the right harnesses, collars, leashes and equipment for a safe and fun walk.
