I would be willing and happy to walk a dog per their required level of activity! I'd love to take a more active dog on hikes or to a dog park, and less active dogs for walks at whatever length or pace they require! Dogs can be walked individually or with others, depending of course on their behavior with others or if you have multiple pets! I would also love to play fetch or with toys with your dog as well.

I will come to you and walk your dog for the agreed upon rate. If you want I can also bring your dog to the local dog park, on a hike, or bring my dog for company. I have everything needed such as training treats, poop bags, extra leashes, and toys to play with. I am CPR/First Aid certified and all of my supplies are in my car at all times.

The walk will depend on the needs of your dog/s. If your dog is used to an active walk/run we will have fun. I can walk multiple dogs if they are medium to small in size. If your dog has special needs I can accommodate for their needs.

When walking my dog I like to get a feel for his mode, if he is feeling super lethargic I make him run in between walking to get his blood flowing and brighten his day. I also do this same method if he is overactive to help alleviate some of the extra energy. If the customer feels comfortable with this method I can offer this as an option, but if they would rather a different routine I can support that as well.

The walks ultimately depend on the needs of both the owner and the dog/s. Whether there is an established routine or a need for a new one I can provide this service for you and your beloved pet.

I love to walk 2 dogs at a time, but if your dogs walks well on the leash, I can walk with 3 or 4 dogs. For an active dog, I will take your fur-friend out to the park and we can play for 30 minutes! I love to play fetching or play a trick game with the dogs! I like to walk in the morning or evening because I want the weather to cool down so your dogs won't get burn on their precious paws!!!

Leisure walks with a brisk pace that lets the dog(s) use enough energy that they feel a little tired at the end. Lots of sniffing and stopping involved. I dont let the dogs pull on their leashes and I take the time outside to let them off the leashes in certain allowed spots, if I have dogs that will come back when called.

I do all kinds of walks with up to 2 dogs at a time! I love to go running, I know of several dog parks in the area and I am available for walks at almost any time of day! I provide plenty of time to walk with your pet (up to an hour and a half) and I always keep your pet safe. If your pet has leash problems or issues with other animals I take this into consideration as well!

Top tips for getting started with a dog walker in Thornton

  1. Look for a dog walker who has passed a background check.
  2. Ask a DogVacay dog walker for a free Meet-n-Greet. Take your pet for a short stroll in Thornton, letting the dog walker hold the leash. You’ll know quickly if this is the right person for your pet.
  3. Then visit your home with the dog walker, so your pet becomes comfortable with this person in the dog’s territory.
  4. Make plans for letting the DogVacay dog walker into your home. Some people may feel comfortable providing a key. Others keep a key in a combination lockbox. Many people use smart locks and programmable key codes.
  5. Discuss the length and route of the walk in your neighborhood in Thornton. Cover what kind of updates you want (such as a “bathroom” log or behavior notes).
  6. Explain what your treat policy is after a walk. Keep treats safely stored, and let the dog walker know where to find them.
  7. Make sure your pet has the right harnesses, collars, leashes and equipment for a safe and fun walk.
