I am a very flexible person when it comes to your dogs walk. Every dog is unique and so is every owner. I will take direction from you on how you would like your dogs walk to go. If you have an older dog and would like to have an easy walk in shaded areas and make sure they are well hydrated, I can do that. If you have a young pup that can run for days and you would like their energy expended by the end of the day, I can do that as well.

I like to walk in parks leisurely and if the dog wants to run I am up for a jog. I keep them in sight and always on leash. I could play with them at the park throwing their favorite toy.
My dog used to love walking on the streets. He wasn't trained to run so he went in a un-expected pattern. If this may occur, I will make sure he is always attended at a certain speed.

At owners request I could absolutely do a leisure walk, active walk and walk multiple dogs. I have a tons of experience walking dogs and also actively walk my 3 dogs 4-5 times a week. I truly believe walking is a crucial part in having a healthy lifestyle for dogs and would be happy to share the love with all dogs everywhere.

Walks will be interactive and solely dependent on the dogs needs. if it is an energetic animal then walks will be more upbeat and interactive. If the dog is older and perhaps less physically active walks will be more leisurely and slow paced. Multiple dogs in an option as long as they will behave well together and do not put each other in danger.

I am happy to be flexible depending on the dog! A few dogs that I love to walk: Ladybird, who loves to smell every blade of grass - she's the slow, leisurely type. Apollo loves adventure, he and I can do two laps of Washington Park at a blistering pace!

I can also bring more active, athletic dogs on runs with me (though my running pace is pretty slow and I typically only run 3-5 miles at a time). Dogs who require more exercise can run themselves to exhaustion at the dog park! I'm comfortable supervising dog park visits if the owner is comfortable with it.

Top tips for getting started with a dog walker in Englewood

  1. Look for a dog walker who has passed a background check.
  2. Ask a DogVacay dog walker for a free Meet-n-Greet. Take your pet for a short stroll in Englewood, letting the dog walker hold the leash. You’ll know quickly if this is the right person for your pet.
  3. Then visit your home with the dog walker, so your pet becomes comfortable with this person in the dog’s territory.
  4. Make plans for letting the DogVacay dog walker into your home. Some people may feel comfortable providing a key. Others keep a key in a combination lockbox. Many people use smart locks and programmable key codes.
  5. Discuss the length and route of the walk in your neighborhood in Englewood. Cover what kind of updates you want (such as a “bathroom” log or behavior notes).
  6. Explain what your treat policy is after a walk. Keep treats safely stored, and let the dog walker know where to find them.
  7. Make sure your pet has the right harnesses, collars, leashes and equipment for a safe and fun walk.
