I like to walk dogs separately because that way they get one-on-one attention. If a dog has a lot of energy I like to run or jog with them! At first I like to walk in a routine direction, rarely steering off course, so the dog becomes comfortable with me and I can observe it's habits/tendencies, and then once we are acquainted, I like to go on more exploratory walks.

I love all types of strolling. For little dogs I'm happy to go slow, for big dogs happy to help them get all their energy out. I'm always up for playing at the dog park, throwing balls, whatever makes them happy. Solo, multiple, whatever is necessary.

I love walks of all kinds! I'm a very active person so I love taking pups for jogs/brisk walks as well as more leisurely walks along quiet streets in Venice and along Rose Ave. I'm most comfortable walking with up to two dogs at a time and can walk for up to an hour twice per day.

I will be open to what the dog needs and base that on communication with the owner. I will ensure that the animal is given direct and undivided attention. Whatever the needs of the doggie are I will do whatever it takes to make sure that he/she gets it. If it is a slow loop around the block or up to a 5 mile jog I can accommodate. I am also happy to take the doggie to the dog park. I am available for up to 2 dogs of any size. If you would like for me to run with the doggies I prefer it to just be one of any size.

I take fairly leisurely walks, and would only take 1 dog (or 1 owners dogs) out at a time. You never know how they will get along and I just want to be careful! Also can run a little with the dog if they like.

I would go alone and make sure we went to doggy friendly locations in Santa Monica/Venice. I always clean up after the dog too, of course!

Every dog is different, I basically let them take the lead within reason. (we won't be chasing squirrels). I can walk or run or take a leisurely stroll, but if I feel that the dog could use a bit more exercise I can teach him to stroll and not stop and sniff every single bush. I'm good at training dogs on the leash. If there's a nice trail in the hills or a park around, I know that dogs love nature just as much as I do, so that's where we'll want to go. Sometimes they get excited and so I'm happy to run for a bit. We drink water every chance we get and if there are other dogs its nice to be social, but if I feel there's any aggressive behavior we peacefully avoid situations and cross the street or move to the side on a short leash and sit for a bit. Doggie treats are good to have so we can reinforce and reward good behavior. I'm a yoga teacher so we also take stretch breaks. They copy my poses often times. I bring tennis balls or a frisbee so we can play.

Top tips for getting started with a dog walker in Los Angeles

  1. Look for a dog walker who has passed a background check.
  2. Ask a DogVacay dog walker for a free Meet-n-Greet. Take your pet for a short stroll in Los Angeles, letting the dog walker hold the leash. You’ll know quickly if this is the right person for your pet.
  3. Then visit your home with the dog walker, so your pet becomes comfortable with this person in the dog’s territory.
  4. Make plans for letting the DogVacay dog walker into your home. Some people may feel comfortable providing a key. Others keep a key in a combination lockbox. Many people use smart locks and programmable key codes.
  5. Discuss the length and route of the walk in your neighborhood in Los Angeles. Cover what kind of updates you want (such as a “bathroom” log or behavior notes).
  6. Explain what your treat policy is after a walk. Keep treats safely stored, and let the dog walker know where to find them.
  7. Make sure your pet has the right harnesses, collars, leashes and equipment for a safe and fun walk.
