I enjoy walking the dogs in my neighborhood. There is a park right down the street and there are hiking trails close by. I have taken multiple dogs on walks and they always enjoy being outside. I can do leisure walks or more active ones on the hiking trails. Many choices by where I am located!

I customize the walk to accommodate the pets needs. Longer or shorter, easy or more strenuous, while taking into account the time of day. I don't walk dogs together that don't know each other, unless both owners have notified me with an ok. I'm also make park visits for those dogs that need to run.

I tailor the walks to your dogs needs and pace. Some dogs take a leisurely walk and sniff around a lot, and like to take things slowly, while other dogs have tons of energy and like to run. I'm not a high-speed runner, but I can jog with doggies, if that's the pace they want.

I take my fur guests all around the Conejo Valley hills for hiking in the early morning hours or sunset hours, depending on weather. I also include a neighborhood walk each day, for a total of 2 walks per day. I always keep my pups in my care on leash, as is the law and would prefer not to loose my clients. Always safe and secure.

I usually walk only the dog of one owner at a time, so I can adapt to his/her pace. Some dogs like to walk fast, while others like to sniff out their neighborhood.
I also run with the more active dogs up to 6 miles, it depends on what the owner likes me to do.

I am available for any level of walks. I am a distance runner and love to run with a dog and I will go out for any distance the dog is in shape for. I also appreciate a leisurely stroll and enjoy the relaxation. Dogs that want to go for a walk and owners who have specific walk requests are happily accommodated. I do not appreciate large group dog walks. I run with only one dog at a time. Group walks are usually two, but under certain circumstances, depending on the temperament and size of dogs, for safety reasons, four dogs is the maximum I will walk at the same time.

I love all dogs and your dog will be loved when they are with me. I live across the street from a park and I'm home all the time. I have a lot of experience with all types of pets since I volunteered for a rescue for many years. I know what your dog needs to be happy. Exercise, discipline and affection! When I watch my friend's dogs, they get 3 to 4 walks, some playtime with other doggies and at night, they sleep right next to me. I think my home can offer so much more comfort than any type of boarding. Your pet will have the opportunity to be loved all day by a family and will enjoy a lot of doggy socialization, too!

Top tips for getting started with a dog walker in Thousand Oaks

  1. Look for a dog walker who has passed a background check.
  2. Ask a DogVacay dog walker for a free Meet-n-Greet. Take your pet for a short stroll in Thousand Oaks, letting the dog walker hold the leash. You’ll know quickly if this is the right person for your pet.
  3. Then visit your home with the dog walker, so your pet becomes comfortable with this person in the dog’s territory.
  4. Make plans for letting the DogVacay dog walker into your home. Some people may feel comfortable providing a key. Others keep a key in a combination lockbox. Many people use smart locks and programmable key codes.
  5. Discuss the length and route of the walk in your neighborhood in Thousand Oaks. Cover what kind of updates you want (such as a “bathroom” log or behavior notes).
  6. Explain what your treat policy is after a walk. Keep treats safely stored, and let the dog walker know where to find them.
  7. Make sure your pet has the right harnesses, collars, leashes and equipment for a safe and fun walk.
