Let me start off by saying that I absolutely LOVE all dogs! Walking is a big part of my life and I love including furry friends with me to explore the city. Walks will be leisurely or active, depending on your dog's preference. If your dog likes to sniff a lot during our stroll we can take our time. If your dog likes to walk fast and get a lot of energy out we can speed walk around the parks in the city. I can also walk multiple dogs as I have experience walking my own two medium sized dogs at the same time. I love mixing it up and walking in different neighborhoods so your dog will never be bored. I am looking forward to walking with your dog!

> While walking your dog:

Every dog is unique, so I change my walking style depending on what yours like - does he prefer to walk in a slow-pace or to run when the road is free? Whatever it is, I'm up to it! I plan on walking around the neighborhood, always searching for streets that are safe for your furry friend. If there's a park around, we might go there to meet new dog friends and enjoy the nature.

> While sitting your dog:

What makes your dog happy? That's what I'm gonna do. Visits include potty breaks, fresh water, playtime and exercise. Services might also include feeding, medicating and washing pet dishes - just ask for it.

> After each visit, I will send photos and an update so you can keep track of every moment of your pet. (:

My walks can be catered to the type of dog you have. I can walk multiple dogs at a time or walk and play with a dog solo if thats what is more comfortable for them. I'll also make sure to be responsive to the dog's needs. If they seem to be extra energetic we'll make sure to have plenty of playtime at the park. If they seem tired, we can take it easy with a stroll that day.

There are so many lovely parks in San Francisco! My favorites are Washington Square in North Beach, Huntington Park across from Grace Cathedral, Jefferson Square Park, and Alamo Square as they are all excellent destinations with enough walking distance from my home to provide exercise for the pups and are not terribly crowded with other dogs. Washington Square and Huntington park are particularly fun, as the majority of other dog owners are responsible owners and friendly to small dogs.

I prefer to walk my pups at a rather brisk pace, and also do not allow them off leash unless we are on a quiet spot at Ocean Beach and maybe Chrissy Field (but there are hawks that will snatch up small dogs, so that's usually a "no"). Additionally, I prefer to keep my pups on leash because you just never know what someone else's dog is like.

Active or leisurely, your dog and I will get some serious exercise! Parks and open spaces are a favorite for a romp or an exploratory jaunt, especially on pleasant weather days. Dog parks, beaches, walking in the woods or Golden Gate Park are some of my personal favorites. I am comfortable with up to 2 dogs at a time.

My walks vary from day hikes to leisurely. There are 2 parks large enough to throw a ball or kick a soccer ball near my apartment. My dog goes jogging with me in the mornings at least 2 days a week. Sometimes we go to the park and work on tricks. Since I don't have a car my dog goes walking with me while I run errands around town

I usually walk one dog, both leisurely & actively. We may go on a light jog through large parks and trails. We often will stop to smell the flowers and sit in the sun. We will surely watch out our surroundings too and chat with other dogs & people! The walks are usually 20 minutes to 1.5 hours.

I currently work as a volunteer dog walker the SFSPCA. I usually take the dogs for 45 - 60 minute walk around the neighborhood and/or to play in a locked, secured dog play area. I also have been trained to visit puppies for socialization. The puppies are not old enough to go outside. I am required to wear a plastic gown, gloves, and protective booties when handling the puppies.

I only walk individual dogs for the SPCA but I have walked my own two dogs at the same time. When walking the dogs in San Francisco, I am alert for foreign substances that they might step on or try to eat.

Leisurely walks to the local park in the neighborhood, possible hikes in inner city hiking trails. If dog is physically capable and with permission of owner there may be more active walks with some running and fetch on the beach or inner city parks. Walks with other dogs of friends is a possibility. Bag of treats will always be handy for well behaved buddies. :)

Top tips for getting started with a dog walker in San Francisco

  1. Look for a dog walker who has passed a background check.
  2. Ask a DogVacay dog walker for a free Meet-n-Greet. Take your pet for a short stroll in San Francisco, letting the dog walker hold the leash. You’ll know quickly if this is the right person for your pet.
  3. Then visit your home with the dog walker, so your pet becomes comfortable with this person in the dog’s territory.
  4. Make plans for letting the DogVacay dog walker into your home. Some people may feel comfortable providing a key. Others keep a key in a combination lockbox. Many people use smart locks and programmable key codes.
  5. Discuss the length and route of the walk in your neighborhood in San Francisco. Cover what kind of updates you want (such as a “bathroom” log or behavior notes).
  6. Explain what your treat policy is after a walk. Keep treats safely stored, and let the dog walker know where to find them.
  7. Make sure your pet has the right harnesses, collars, leashes and equipment for a safe and fun walk.
