I enjoying taking walks with dogs because it's one of the best ways to be in touch with nature, making and stop when they do always gives me an opportunity to appreciate the trees and flowers and the welcome community involvement it affords me when kids stop you to ask to pet the dog or just general conversations that are sometimes started by dogs. And when it's just me and the pup I love the opportunity for great exercise for both doh and I and meditation just reflecting on day's events etc. and watching dogs display 'humanely' traits is both a wonder, funny fulfilling

One of my favorite things to do is go for a walk or run with a furry friend. I can go at any pace needed for the dog, and would love to use this opportunity to explore trails and/or walking paths around the area. If the dog is active I would love to take it on a run as I am an avid runner. For older or less active dogs I am happy to take them on a leisurely walk as well. I can walk one or multiple dogs at once, depending on the owner's needs.

Your friend is walked with two Bloodhounds-Shep mixes who are two yrs old. Your friend will also if you wish will also go off leash at a fenced in dog area in the financial district when other dogs are not present ...This minimizes liability to all dogs in my charge...And keeps them at peace. Your friend will visit Landmark sites: The Presidio, Palace of Fine Arts, etc...

My dog has some early signs of hip arthritis, but still hike between 2-5 miles per day. We are flexible and will accommodate any other dog's needs. We love going to Point Isabel, but I try to mix it up and hit Redwood Regional, Sibley, Tilden. I also enjoy going on neighborhood walks around North Berkeley, if your puppy prefers to be on leash during walks. On weekends we love going to Fort Funston and play at the beach!

I walk around Lake Merritt every day, dogs or no dogs. I also love F. M. Smith Park (one block away) which has a huge wide-open grassy area (about three acres). I am athletic and can give dogs all the exercise they want, including running up hills etc. I equally enjoy walking older dogs who want something leisurely, I have stairs but I can carry any dog no matter how large or infirm.

I offer solo walks, which means that your pup gets individual attention and love. Depending on your dogs needs, I can provide a leisurely walk for elderly or disabled pups, or more active walks that include play for those pups needing to get their energy out!

I would walk at the pace of the dog as long as it is a comfortable pace. Leisurely or active, either one is good. If the dog likes to sniff and interact with people or other dogs then I prefer to allow, unless notified otherwise by owner. I enjoy rigorous exercise so if the dog has a more intense pace I would gladly accommodate that.

Dog walking is catered to the dog's needs and determined on a dog by dog basis. I can provide a leisurely walk, active jog, solo walk, or walk with my pup as a buddy. I can take the dog around the neighborhood or to a local park/trail. I would never walk more than 2 dogs at a time so I would always be in control and aware of each dog's needs.

For smaller and less active or more mature dogs, I'll take a leisurely stroll usually through parks. I love to walk dogs by the lake.

For more active, larger, and younger dogs, I like to do more brisk walks and can even jog at a moderate pace with your dog for 3-5 miles.

Just let me know what you're dog is used to and I'd be happy to oblige.

Flexible, to best fit the needs of the dog :)

If you have a large-breed, lots of energy, or puppy, then a nice brisk walk or possibly a trip to the dog park if desired.

If the dog is older, or a small-breed, then the walk would be more leisurely.

Comfortable walking multiple dogs, but only if they all got along well and had a good temperament for it.

Top tips for getting started with a dog walker in Oakland

  1. Look for a dog walker who has passed a background check.
  2. Ask a DogVacay dog walker for a free Meet-n-Greet. Take your pet for a short stroll in Oakland, letting the dog walker hold the leash. You’ll know quickly if this is the right person for your pet.
  3. Then visit your home with the dog walker, so your pet becomes comfortable with this person in the dog’s territory.
  4. Make plans for letting the DogVacay dog walker into your home. Some people may feel comfortable providing a key. Others keep a key in a combination lockbox. Many people use smart locks and programmable key codes.
  5. Discuss the length and route of the walk in your neighborhood in Oakland. Cover what kind of updates you want (such as a “bathroom” log or behavior notes).
  6. Explain what your treat policy is after a walk. Keep treats safely stored, and let the dog walker know where to find them.
  7. Make sure your pet has the right harnesses, collars, leashes and equipment for a safe and fun walk.
