Each walk should be changed and catered to each individual dog depending on their breed, needs, disabilities, and behavior. My walks are not just about helping the dogs release some pent up energy, though it is important. They are about pleasing the dog. My routes will be selected based on avoiding anything that might cause issues with the dogs stress. The amount of ground I cover will depend on the owners preference and my suggestion based on the amount of exercise it normally gets, and how much it needs. Above all, it is equally as important that the owner feels comfortable with my routine.

Each dog walk is customized to the dogs daily life. If your furry friend does better solo, he/she will be walked alone. If your dog enjoys the company of other dogs, I have no issue bringing my friendly Golden Retriever to accompany your furry friend on his/her walks.

I do enjoy a nice run, so if your pet is high energy, we can get some exercise in together. Sometimes, I will bring my terrier with me, and he will usually set an even, leisurely pace. I love to go to this dog park near my house, where I can let him play and smell everything around him. This is really for his benefit - he doesn't normally have friends to play with, and I think he would love to play with your dog!

Leisurely walks preferably with one dog at a time, maximum three. I typically like to walk in parks or on walking trails. I like to use harnesses on all breeds; one time fee of $2 added to regular pay if walk is required and no harness is available at home (I can provide my own)

When walking at my house, your pup is usually walked with my two at a fairly leisurely pace. If your pup is more active, my daughter would love to take him/her on a run. If I have two guest dogs with me, I can't walk 4 dogs at once, so I will have a family member walk with me.

If I am taking care of dogs at your house, I can handle up to three small dogs at time or two big dogs.

Walks can be whatever the pet owner prefers! At home my walks are usually both dogs for as long as it seems to get their energy out. One of them loves to run, but the other is a little too small to keep up sometimes. If the dog is being boarded overnight at my home, they can be walked solo, or with my dogs. As for how active they would like me to be, I can do light jogging, leisure walks, hikes, dog parks, etc. It will totally be up to the owner!

I fortunately have two types of walks: one is a LEISURELY walk around the neighborhood in the morning for about 45 minutes after the dogs have been fed. I like to get the dogs out in the morning before it gets hot, and to protect their paws. The second walk is ACTIVE. This walk is taken in the evening after the dogs have been fed. There is a beautiful trail in the neighborhood which provides great exercise for both walker and dogs. This walk is usually around 45 minutes also.

Top tips for getting started with a dog walker in Murrieta

  1. Look for a dog walker who has passed a background check.
  2. Ask a DogVacay dog walker for a free Meet-n-Greet. Take your pet for a short stroll in Murrieta, letting the dog walker hold the leash. You’ll know quickly if this is the right person for your pet.
  3. Then visit your home with the dog walker, so your pet becomes comfortable with this person in the dog’s territory.
  4. Make plans for letting the DogVacay dog walker into your home. Some people may feel comfortable providing a key. Others keep a key in a combination lockbox. Many people use smart locks and programmable key codes.
  5. Discuss the length and route of the walk in your neighborhood in Murrieta. Cover what kind of updates you want (such as a “bathroom” log or behavior notes).
  6. Explain what your treat policy is after a walk. Keep treats safely stored, and let the dog walker know where to find them.
  7. Make sure your pet has the right harnesses, collars, leashes and equipment for a safe and fun walk.
