I would walk multiple dogs, i would start with a leisurely brisk walk possibly to a park or trail. Then I would change to more of a active light jog and perhaps some quicker running. I would bring a ball and play catch with the dogs for a bit. Bring it down to a brisk leisurely walk back home.

Depending on the client's needs and the dog's age, strength, mobility etc, I can vary the type of walk we go on! For more active dogs, I'm happy to go on a run with them. For less active dogs, I'm happy to go on a more leisurely stroll. I am more comfortable in walking one dog at a time

I will take your dog on very active walks, hikes or runs through forested areas, trails and/or dog parks. There are many trails nearby which are dog friendly and where your dog can enjoy to roam freely off leash with me. If your dog is the type that needs to expel a lot of energy, you can ensure they will receive an active hike and run with me as I enjoy faster paced running and hiking too. You will be satisfied that your dog will receive a good workout. If your dog enjoys a more leisure pace, I can provide a nice easy walk for it too. Additionally, your dog will receive solo attention and I can play games like fetch with it. I will always bring water, food and doggy bags to make sure your dog is hydrated, full and cleaned up after. In addition, I can provide your dog with a full day hike as it is nice to have the company on longer trails.

I live by a area around parks and the beach. The dogs can have a nice calm walk around the trees, or have a playful time on open parks, and even a fun a refreshing walk at the beach, all where they can make new friends! I have my own dogs that I would take for a walk with me, if pet owners are okay with that, if not it would be just me and the pup!

Walks are dependent on your critter's age, temperment, and other needs! Dogs that need more of an outlet for their energy can join me for a hike. Older dogs, or those with medical conditions who cannot handle too much exercise, can join me for a more leisurely walk. Dogs will always be walked solo, unless your pet is okay with other dogs, and multiple dogs is something you are also comfortable with. Walks are always tailored to your pet!

I can adjust my walk to the needs of the dog however my normal walk is at least an hour in the forest trails. I normally go along the Baden Powell trail with some friends and their dogs. Sometimes there are two dogs and sometimes more. The hike can be quite energetic or at a leisurely pace.

Top tips for getting started with a dog walker in North Vancouver

  1. Look for a dog walker who has passed a background check.
  2. Ask a DogVacay dog walker for a free Meet-n-Greet. Take your pet for a short stroll in North Vancouver, letting the dog walker hold the leash. You’ll know quickly if this is the right person for your pet.
  3. Then visit your home with the dog walker, so your pet becomes comfortable with this person in the dog’s territory.
  4. Make plans for letting the DogVacay dog walker into your home. Some people may feel comfortable providing a key. Others keep a key in a combination lockbox. Many people use smart locks and programmable key codes.
  5. Discuss the length and route of the walk in your neighborhood in North Vancouver. Cover what kind of updates you want (such as a “bathroom” log or behavior notes).
  6. Explain what your treat policy is after a walk. Keep treats safely stored, and let the dog walker know where to find them.
  7. Make sure your pet has the right harnesses, collars, leashes and equipment for a safe and fun walk.
