I can take your dog(s) for a 15-30 minute leisurely walk in Mariner Park which is across the street or if they need a little more I will have them join me on my jog/run in Munday Park[Coquitlam]. This type of exercise is around 45 min to an hour. There are people walking dogs in the park so they would interact with other dogs if that's you're preference or not. The Coquitlam animal shelter is in this park and I have experience walking their dogs. All volunteers must take a Coquitlam City approved course to become a volunteer. I completed my course in 2007.

Happy to go with one dog or two. Will your pup be my running buddy?

My first choice is to be active in nature--let me run your pup so she sleeps well the rest of the day. Usually my runs are a fast past walk for large dogs. Your dog motivates me to keep active.

If a run is too much for your pup, my second choice is to walk around a nearby park or lake. My last choice is a city walk around the quiet streets of the suburbs.

Active or leisurely dependent on the dog. Solo but likely to go to dog parks to interact with other dogs. My 10 year old daughter will be with us for the walking to run with the dog in the park and give lots of cuddles and love. I love playing fetch in the beautiful park a block from our home.

I do a combination of speed walking, hiking, and jogging on forest trails. I also go to off-leash dog parks. Riva (yorkie mix) is always with me and Luna (husky) is with me 2-3 days a week. There may be other neighbourhood dogs with me but I will not take more than 6 dogs total. I regularly handle 6 dogs at a time with ease. If your dog has any issues with leash walking or needs special attention for aggression or other behavioural/medical reasons then I will take only up to 4 dogs total.

I love to go hiking so if your dog is good off leash and once he/she is comfortable with me and comes when i call them i will take hiking with me on local dog friendly trails. Until comfortable and comes when called i will take them for a really long leash walk.

Top tips for getting started with a dog walker in Coquitlam

  1. Look for a dog walker who has passed a background check.
  2. Ask a DogVacay dog walker for a free Meet-n-Greet. Take your pet for a short stroll in Coquitlam, letting the dog walker hold the leash. You’ll know quickly if this is the right person for your pet.
  3. Then visit your home with the dog walker, so your pet becomes comfortable with this person in the dog’s territory.
  4. Make plans for letting the DogVacay dog walker into your home. Some people may feel comfortable providing a key. Others keep a key in a combination lockbox. Many people use smart locks and programmable key codes.
  5. Discuss the length and route of the walk in your neighborhood in Coquitlam. Cover what kind of updates you want (such as a “bathroom” log or behavior notes).
  6. Explain what your treat policy is after a walk. Keep treats safely stored, and let the dog walker know where to find them.
  7. Make sure your pet has the right harnesses, collars, leashes and equipment for a safe and fun walk.
