Daily walks are critical for a dogs wellbeing, so walking your pet is a win win no matter how you slice it.

Solo walks are a great time to really bond with a pet, get to know their habits, quirks, and a good time should be had by all.
As a walker, solo walks give me a chance to truly understand if they have been previously trained in any and all areas of K9 training.
I like to take them to a nearby park (if there is one), and play ball or fetch.
I also like to run with them if they are naturally hyperactive, or herding dogs by breed.
Leisurely walks are lovely too. If the pet owner requests that style of walk, or the pet is older or elderly a leisurely walk is a must.

Walking should always be a fun and healthy activity for both the pet as well as the walker.
Do you have More than one dog or pet that needs to be walked at once?
No problem!!
Everyone has to find a rhythm when walking more than one or two dogs simultaneously, I have it down to a science.
I have walked up to eight at once, and trust me in that case one must REALLY know what they are doing. :)

Lastly- and very important. I always walk with baggies, I pick up all deposits left during a walk. I pick up everything.

It's just Rude not to do so.

Walking 1-2 dogs at a normal pace. Depending on the dog, I can walk at a slower or more active pace. I listen to the dog's body language and provide motivation and love, as well as treats and water. I let the dog guide me to where his/her heart desire, but I set the pace. I always carry poop baggies.

I take nice leisurely walks, however, if the dog likes it (or the owner suggests it) I can also do jogging with the dog. Multiple dogs are fine as long as they are not too big or unruly. In addition, if the owner would like, I can take the dog(s) to the dog park (at Reid Park), instead of a walk (or in addition to).

Walking is one of my favorite kinds of exercise. I can walk up to two dogs at their speed. Of course in the Arizona summers, walking has to be completed by 7 AM and prefer sidewalk, concrete, black top or grass to rough terrain. We can probably walk up to 1 mile, good exercise for 2 legged and 4 legged beings.

This box is saying I need at least 250 characters. Why? As it's better to be succinct vs. verbose.

Able to provide active, fully engaged walks. If dog needs to play with toys/balls, that may be provided as well. Willing to take dogs to dog park/field/track and allow them to play. I have owned large and small dogs and other animals and reptiles. I am comfortable with most animals and reptiles. Unfortunately, allergic to cats.

My name is Liz, for the past thirty years I have worked as a Social Worker, and a Highschool English teacher. I have owned and cared for large and small animals all my life, and am looking forward to spending the next thirty years caring for small dogs at Little Paws on the Prairie. We are a small, intimate daycare/boarding facility, with a focus on fun and physical affection. We are located accross the street from a large park, with an enclosed area for small dogs to run free. There is a minimum of one walk a day through the park, as well as use of the play area. My home has a large back yard, with a grassy area, and plenty of safe room to run. There are toys and cushions in the backyard, and plenty of access to water. All dogs have free run of my home and yard, with ongoing safety supervision. Think of it as a chance for your dogs to stay at the grandma's house you always wanted. In addition, there are stair cases and stools to help smaller or older dogs negotiate the beds and sofas. We have dog beds throughout the house. All guests must be current with their vaccines, and be able to show proof of same.

I can walk one dog or multiple dogs. We can take a leisurely "stop-n-sniff" stroll, or we can do a fast walk/light jog for furry friends that need to get some energy out. We can walk in the neighborhoods you know, or check out one of Tucson's many parks or trails.

I run often so it could be an active walk if requested or I could take it slow. I have experience with both types due to the ages of my dogs. It's easier to walk one but I am willing to walk up to 3 if the dogs are well leash trained. Still, I am an active person and enjoy taking care of pups especially outdoors and we can discuss any relevant details at the time of booking.

I have my own 2 dogs, I usually walk them in the mornings, and in the afternoons for about an hour or so. I take them to the park, or walk them around the neighborhood. Sometimes I take both since one is a little chihuahua and sometimes only one, I have a Siberian husky.

Top tips for getting started with a dog walker in Tucson

  1. Look for a dog walker who has passed a background check.
  2. Ask a DogVacay dog walker for a free Meet-n-Greet. Take your pet for a short stroll in Tucson, letting the dog walker hold the leash. You’ll know quickly if this is the right person for your pet.
  3. Then visit your home with the dog walker, so your pet becomes comfortable with this person in the dog’s territory.
  4. Make plans for letting the DogVacay dog walker into your home. Some people may feel comfortable providing a key. Others keep a key in a combination lockbox. Many people use smart locks and programmable key codes.
  5. Discuss the length and route of the walk in your neighborhood in Tucson. Cover what kind of updates you want (such as a “bathroom” log or behavior notes).
  6. Explain what your treat policy is after a walk. Keep treats safely stored, and let the dog walker know where to find them.
  7. Make sure your pet has the right harnesses, collars, leashes and equipment for a safe and fun walk.
