I can cater to your dogs needs & ability. I am not a runner and would prefer to walk dogs solo. My typical pace when dog walking is a 17 minute mile with a 2 minute warm up and 5 minute slower-paced cool down. Can combine walks with a trip to the dog park as well! I'm super flexible - send me a message to see how I can help you and your doggies!

Walks can either be leisurely or active, depending on owner preference. I will walk up to 2 dogs at one time. I have experience walking dogs varying in size from small to medium-large size. I can walk dogs either on sidewalks or trails, again whichever is preferred by the owner.

Depending on your pups speed we can do some tough runs or sashay around the neighborhood! There are a couple of parks in the neighborhood we can enjoy or if your pup is up for it I do the Culver City stairs pretty frequent.

I also can accommodate the slow walkers! I have a small Yorkie who after a couple of times around the block he's ready for a nap!

Hello fellow dog lovers! My name is Katie, and I am a stay at home mother and grad student (online classes). What does that mean to you? I am home AT LEAST 95% of the day EVERY day and can take care of your dog's every need, from potty breaks to playing to brushing, bathing, feeding and medication administration! I have had large breed dogs in my household since I was born. Most recently, I owned a 12 year old Alaskan Malamute (90 lbs) that sadly had to be put down, and a German Shepard mix (65 lbs) that I had to foster when I moved to Paris, France in 2014. There are 5 other dogs in his foster home that have taken him into their pack, and as much as I would like, I just don't have the heart to separate him from his new family, but he comes to visit often. I have a large fenced in yard with a swimming pool that provides a huge area for playing fetch, etc. I will usually take the dogs outside for potty breaks and to play and run around about every 60-90 minutes. When the dogs are playing in the yard they are accompanied and supervised by me for about 98% of the time, unless I need to change or feed my son. I do allow dogs in the pool, so if your dog enjoys swimming they are free to do so! I enjoy being outside and there is always some sort of yard work that needs to be done while I'm tossing the ball around. The perimeter fences in the yard have been secured for small dogs so that none are able to sneak out past their curfew. Inside my home, I built a 4 foot high picket fence between the dining room and living room and can block off access to the kitchen, so if on the rare occasion I am not home (and so long as your dogs can't clear a 4 foot fence) they are free to roam around the kitchen and dining room which is all tile so they don't need to be in a kennel unless that is your/their preference. I walked my dogs at least a mile every day, so I am capable of handling more than one large dog at a time, and love to go for walks in the neighborhood with my son as long as the temperature allows us to do so. My son is 18 months old and is used to being around large dogs and does extremely well with them. I was a 911 operator for the Phoenix Fire Department for 13 years before moving to Paris last year, and although I am not certified in dog first aid/CPR, I have coached people on how to do it over the phone, so I am familiar with it and am confident that I could provide emergency care if a situation were to arise. I am capable of caring for more than one dog at a time, and will do everything I can to alleviate any worries or anxieties while you're away from your kiddos, including frequent updates and photos. I know how much dogs mean to their owners and how hard it is to find reliable and trustworthy caregivers when you are not around. I am dedicated to making sure that you and your pups are comfortable and that they keep to their usual routine while they are here, so if they are allowed on furniture or sleep in your bed they are welcome to do so here, but if they are used to sleeping in a kennel I will accommodate that as well. I do not require meet and greets, but will happily accommodate them if you would like. I am always just a phone call, text or email away. I am easygoing, laid back, very flexible, and would love to provide the same TLC to your dog(s) while you are away as you do on a daily basis. I provide 24/7 care unless I need to run to the store or if I have an appointment that can't be rescheduled, and often times if I do need to run out for a brief period my neighbors will come over to supervise just to make sure that your furry family members are safe. I would be open to the idea of pickup/dropoff under certain circumstances, so if that is something that you are looking for please don't hesitate to get in touch with me. Also, do not be alarmed if your pup(s) come home tired. I have had many guests double check to make sure their pups weren't sick during their stay because they were so pooped upon their return, but it has always been due to playing all day and they are back to their normal selves after some rest at home!

I will only take you dog to open parks with a lot of visibility. This is the best way to insure the safety of your pet. Examples would be Paradise Valley Park ,Sweetwater Park and Steele Indian School Park. I don't allow your dog to mingle or socialize with strange /unknown dogs and I do not utilize dog parks. If you have an enclosed yard, we can have a great time playing. The safety of your dog is my priority.

Depending on the circumstances, I can walk two dogs if they are companions and under 50Lbs. I do not walk multiple dogs and do not bring my dog with me.

While I am not a professional dog trainer, I have had extensive training. I work and train with my dog 3-4 times a week with professional trainers.

My walks will cater to the dog and what they need. I am in good physical shape so I am comfortable walking dogs leisurely or walking at a pace that gets both of our heart rates up :) This is something I decide after meeting the dog and discussing what would be best for them with the owner. I love being outside at any time of the day and in nearly any weather, and am happy to play catch and actively run around with the dog or go slow and take breaks when they need. I believe in giving the dog good exercise without overexerting them. The walks will be solo unless otherwise discussed with owners.

I would be walking dogs individually, and can either do leisurely or active. Since I live in Phoenix, I'd make sure to never go out in the heat of the day. When we do go out, I'd make sure to have water and snacks on hand. If the owner also requests a special task or whatnot, during the walk, I'd also make sure to do that as well.

I have handled 2 dogs at a time on leisurely walks or active (lite jogging) walks and of course a solo or jog walk with one pet. I've taken them on trips to the lake in the summer to enjoy the water and always carry a poopy bag? and then they receive a lite brushing before returning, followed by some serious cuddle time or gentle pet massages, which ever time will permit.

Top tips for getting started with a dog walker in Phoenix

  1. Look for a dog walker who has passed a background check.
  2. Ask a DogVacay dog walker for a free Meet-n-Greet. Take your pet for a short stroll in Phoenix, letting the dog walker hold the leash. You’ll know quickly if this is the right person for your pet.
  3. Then visit your home with the dog walker, so your pet becomes comfortable with this person in the dog’s territory.
  4. Make plans for letting the DogVacay dog walker into your home. Some people may feel comfortable providing a key. Others keep a key in a combination lockbox. Many people use smart locks and programmable key codes.
  5. Discuss the length and route of the walk in your neighborhood in Phoenix. Cover what kind of updates you want (such as a “bathroom” log or behavior notes).
  6. Explain what your treat policy is after a walk. Keep treats safely stored, and let the dog walker know where to find them.
  7. Make sure your pet has the right harnesses, collars, leashes and equipment for a safe and fun walk.
