I can walk or jog with dogs! I have two dogs. One dog is very energetic and loves to go for run while the other one prefers to walk. I know each dog is different and I am happy to take care of special needs. I am happy to take them to the dog park as well! Whatever you prefer.

I need the exercise so I'm more than happy to walk 1-4 dogs anytime! I used to jog and would love to get back in the habit so while your dogs get to be free and roam, I also benefit from the cardio! :) I'd prefer to walk in either your neighborhood, or my own, but I'm also up for going to parks or nature trails, as I'm sure your babies wouldn't mind picking up on some new scents and maybe even making a friend or two.

We take the dogs to a dog park in town and make a couple of laps around the trail. After that we let the dogs play in the playpen area with others. The whole trip usually takes about an hour and a half. I usually have a friend go with me so that we can take my dog plus any others staying.

For multiple dogs, I will keep the pace leisurely so that no dog feels overpowered by others. For a single dog, I will go with the pace the dog wants. If they want to walk briskly, we will; if they would prefer to walk more casually, that's what we will do. I can bring tennis balls to play fetch if any of the dogs want to do that, and I am more than happy to take them to the park.

Dogs will be walked according to how they are trained (either with a leash, or without). Charlie Brown (my Mini Aussie) will almost always be with us, unless you have a specific request, which I will of course grant, as long as it is within reason.

I can take your dog to a specific place if requested. If not, I will walk around wherever your dog is picked up from. If close enough to Auburn University, I will take them there and play with whatever toys you have provided, as well as my own.

Then, I will bring them back.

Every dog will get a treat upon return, if their behavior is acceptable.

I can walk multiple dogs no problem. Dogs who would like to run or just go for a walk are both fine. I am fine with doing more than one walk or run a day depending on what you wish and how active your dog is. If you have multiple dogs I can take them on solo walks or at the same time.

In the Auburn Opelika area I would take them where ever they are familiar being walked. Somewhere near their home like a subdivision, trailer park or the owners preference. The best place would be Kiesel Dog Park. It would just be according to what ever the owner request. I do not mind taking them for a walk and will walk them where ever you prefer.

I would love to take care of your pet(s) whenever the need arises. Preferably in your home because there are just too many pets currently at my place of residence. Please call me if I can ever be of service to you or your friends and family.

Sincerely,
Tamra

Top tips for getting started with a dog walker in Auburn

  1. Look for a dog walker who has passed a background check.
  2. Ask a DogVacay dog walker for a free Meet-n-Greet. Take your pet for a short stroll in Auburn, letting the dog walker hold the leash. You’ll know quickly if this is the right person for your pet.
  3. Then visit your home with the dog walker, so your pet becomes comfortable with this person in the dog’s territory.
  4. Make plans for letting the DogVacay dog walker into your home. Some people may feel comfortable providing a key. Others keep a key in a combination lockbox. Many people use smart locks and programmable key codes.
  5. Discuss the length and route of the walk in your neighborhood in Auburn. Cover what kind of updates you want (such as a “bathroom” log or behavior notes).
  6. Explain what your treat policy is after a walk. Keep treats safely stored, and let the dog walker know where to find them.
  7. Make sure your pet has the right harnesses, collars, leashes and equipment for a safe and fun walk.
