About Joan

38 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
I live in the country and have 10 dogs of my own ranging from 9 - 15 years old. We have a fenced in area and all tile or vinyl floors for the dogs and many dog beds around the whole house. I have a large yard to walk the dogs also. I have dog sat for many people while living in Muskegon, MI and here in Leonard and am looking to doing more. I have had dogs my whole life and have been dog sitting for over 20 years. I have also had a blind dog of my own, a deaf dog of my own and a diabetic dog of my own that got shots 2X per day. My rate is $29/day for 1st dog, $38/day for puppies under 1 yr. old and $22/day per additional dog. with same family. Please note that what Dog Vacay quotes, is not the actual rate for the second dog, I will adjust the quote accordingly before you hire me. All dogs must be up to date on shots and have bordetella shot. Also, all dogs must be housebroken, if not, they must be crate trained.
Our typical day starts early with going outside and then breakfast. Then, of course we have plenty of play time and walk time. Even when the weather is bad, we get outside for a bi if they want to play. Tehn again, after dinner, there is time or play or snoozing, depending on the dog.
I do not offer grooming services.

Note: At this time, I only offer sitting for dogs; I don’t currently accept cats. Thank you!

Joan and her husband watch many dogs like maybe 12-15 dogs at a time in about 3 small rooms of their home and in their small fenced in yard. It's ok for small dogs, but I would not recommend it for medium to larger dogs.
Our dogs were just over a year when they stayed with them and our Dalmatian had a hard time in a new situation, he had a few urine accidents while he stayed in their home. He was anxious and nervous around the other dogs that were there. He was used to naps and alone time and I forgot to mention he needed this every day as well as our little beagle, so things only got worse without that. We won't be using them again, but we appreciate their efforts. I would maybe advise not to have so many dogs in such a small area and realize dogs as young as ours maybe still need some quiet time or nap time. We used them twice, the first time was fine, the second time didn't go so well. They advised we take our Dalmatian to a dog park, we have considered this in the future.

Cooper's stay at Joan and Brian's was awesome! They are wonderful people who just love dogs. They sent me photo updates more than once, and were very easy to communicate with to calm my nerves. I would DEFINITELY book with them again!
