About Katie

10 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
I am currently living in Mission Valley in a super dog friendly apartment complex. Our home welcomes dogs of all breeds and ages, and we have no weight or size restrictions. I have always been a dog lover, but I cannot currently have a dog of my own, so I decided to take care of dogs to get my puppy fix.

I'm currently working as a dog groomer and do home grooming on the side. If you have a dog that requires grooming, please let me know and we can set something up!

I have experience taking care of dogs who:
1) need medications administered at certain times of the day
2) are picky eaters
3) love other dogs
4) are uncomfortable with other dogs
5) have boundless energy
6) sleep all day
7) love to cuddle
8) sleep in crates OR in the bed

My friends and family have been calling me the dog whisperer for a while, so you can rest assured that your fur baby will be safe in my care. I will treat them like my own while you are on your vacation, and you will come back to a happy, well-fed, well exercised pup.

She's fantastic and incredibly patient.
My two female dogs spent eight nights with Katie. I received updates with cute pics of them riding around and hanging out. They looked like they had a lot of fun and were well taken care of.
Our lab mix puppy, Bailey, stayed with Katie for a week while we were on vacation--I think she was just as unhappy vacation was over as we were! Katie did a great job with her and spoiled her rotten. She was professional and we received several updates and pictures while we were away. She took her everywhere with her and we know our fur baby had a great time. We will definitely book with Katie next time we are away!

Katie was super flexible about adding an extra day to our vacay. It was an easy process and I really appreciate her helping me out at the last minute!
Molly had a great vacay with Katie! She even gave her a fabulous groom while I was away. Katie sent me lots of updates and pictures and Molly was as happy as can be!
Katie was really great with our dog Lily. She was very responsive when setting up the reservation and kept in contact with us the entire time we were away. She sent updates and photos via text, we really enjoyed seeing our girl so happy. Lily can be quite picky with the people that surround her but she instantly loved Katie. We will definitely be returning for some more visits with her!

We were excited to have found someone trusted like Katie. We felt comfortable leaving our furry babies for 2 weeks in her hands. Katie updated us somewhat regularly with pictures and videos, which we always appreciated. I think she handles dogs very well but as far as the overall experience concerns, it was rather disappointing in the end. Katie's communication was not very strong from the beginning. It took a while to set up the initial 'Meet & Greet' and the communication for pick wasn't smooth either.
When we got back we noticed a lot of things missing. In trying to avoid that, I had given her a list with everything we brought to her house, to make sure we can keep track of it. I then contacted her to see when I can swing by to pick up the leash, gate, toys and other things that we need on a daily basis. Once again it was very difficult to communicate with her, as she also didn't seem to care. Four days after the departure of the puppies, she was finally able to meet up and return the items.
What I thought could turn into a rather long term relationship was more of a disappointment in the end, unfortunately.

Katie was great and really communicative whilst setting up the stay and also whilst my dog was with her. She provided a couple of updates during his stay and it was obvious everyone involved had fun meaning we could relax and get on with our trip.

I'd recommend Katie and would definitely look to place my dog with her again.

Katie was great with Oscar! She took him to the dog beach and kept him entertained. She also sent lots of update pictures which we loved :) definitely will be asking her to watch Oscar again!
Forgot to review this one earlier, Katie came through in a pinch when my sitter had to cancel my reservation due to illness. I was leaving on a weekend trip out of town. Thanks, Katie.
Ok, this is a looong overdue review. But I have finally gotten to it. May of this year I had to have my recently TPLO patient doggy while I went on vacation. I must say Katie was great . She took care of Nala and followed instructions as I asked. I also got several picture and even a video! which I absolutely loved.

This was for a last minute trip for a wedding up north and Katie was able to squeeze us in. We even ended getting delayed coming back home and Katie was nothing but patient and gracious to us. We've already boarded Maggie with Katie before and we will definitely always book with her. Thank you Katie!

Once again Katie took excellent care of George! Keeping me updated throughout his stay always eases my mind. Thanks again Katie.
Katie took great care of George and kept me updating with pictures and messages throughout his stay. I will definitely have Katie take care of George if she is available when I need a sitter. :)
Katie is awesome! She was able to take my pup with such a short notice and took care of him for a full day! My pup had a good time! Thanks Katie!
Having someone new watch my little guy is always stressful, but Katie was a sweetheart and very cooperative. My pug Gizmo is blind so he requires a little more TLC than most other dogs. She did a meet and greet so we all got to know a little about each other and then she took great care of Gizmo while I was out of town. I will definitely use her the next time I need someone to watch him.

My experience with Katie, wasn't quite as smooth as the others users, so maybe it was just bad timing or a bad weekend for her. My primary concern is that my dog is a bit of a nervous dog around strangers and is scared of other dogs. I paid Katie double the normal rate to ensure that there wouldn't be other dogs while she was watching my pet. We did the meet and great which went fine. When I arrived at her house to drop my dog off, I heard a noise coming from the bedroom that sounded like a dog, Katie ignored it the first few times, then eventually it was pretty obvious there was a dog in there and she said, "oh, that's my boyfriend's dog, they'll be leaving in a little bit". I didn't really appreciate that there was a dog there, and I definitely didn't appreciate that she wasn't up front about it before we even walked into the apartment. My other concern was that this was the first time my dog was in her house, first time being left with a stranger, and 30 minutes after our scheduled drop off time, Katie had to leave for a job interview. Add that to the fact that there was a dog in the house, I can only imagine that initial 30-60 minutes was a pretty stressful for my dog. Katie provided updates when I asked, but not unprompted and not very detailed and with descriptions that were out of character of my dog. Upon arriving to pick up my dog, Katie and her boyfriend where waiting outside the apartment with my dog. Not sure if his dog was in the apartment but it made me wonder. When I picked my dog up, she was panting heavily and it took her a good 15 minutes with a/c cranked up in the car to get her to stop. Then upon getting home she immediately crashed out on the hard wood floor for 4 hours and didn't move. My dog is a very peppy little 10 pound, 2 year old dog. I have done 3 mile hikes with her, done runs on the beach with her and have never seen her act that way, so I'm not sure what she was doing with Katie to make her quite so exhausted, but I have a feeling it could have just been from stress. I acknowledge that I am protective of my dog, she is definitely my doggie daughter, but I felt a little misled with the situation I was leaving my dog in, which zapped my trust and felt I should share my experience for those with dogs with special needs.

I was in a dire situation and needed a dogsitter ASAP, and Katie came to the rescue. She is a super fast responder (within a few hours). Even when she couldn't fit me in the second time, she responded almost immediately, so that I could find other accommodations.

Katie was great with Teddy. She was thoughtful in making the necessary arrangements prior to me bringing Teddy. She followed all my instructions regarding food. She kept in touch very well and promptly answered to all my messages. She also sent pictures and videos of my little pup entertaining himself during his vaca) I would recommend leaving your dog with Katie if you are away.

I often travel for 1-2 nights for work and wanted an alternative to sending my pup to a large boarding facility. I found Katie D on Dogvacay.com and was able to set up a meet and greet with her easily to make sure it was a good fit.

Katie has been flexible with me (I had a delayed flight and was late picking Marley up) and has been able to accept bookings for just a few days later.

I picked Marley up to find her happy and tired. She is very comfortable with Katie and that makes me feel at ease.

It was great to get pics of my dog playing and having fun while I was away! :-)

I would recommend using Katie to a friend or family member.

Maggie had such a great time with Katie! She is such a gracious host. We recently adopted Maggie from an animal shelter so she's quite a handful at the moment. We loved and appreciated seeing the hilarious pictures of her throughout the trip.

We came back to a very happy, wagging Maggie. We will definitely be using Katie in the future!

Katie is great! She is super nice and our little boy immediately acted comfortable around her. She provided numerous pictures over the weekend to let us know our boy was enjoying his stay. We will definitely be using Katie in the future.
We left our super excitable pitbull with Katie during a day trip up north and she really took really amazing care of him! He got to cuddle and play all day and visit places around town, and was so tired when we picked him up he slept like a rock on the ride home. He also has special dietary needs and allergies, which Katie kept a look out for and managed very well. We could tell she is really dedicated to dogs and loves them very much!

Katie was wonderful with our two little dogs, Koko and Scout. She is super friendly and the dogs took to her right away. Her location is ideal for walks and is dog friendly. We had no worries on our trip to Las Vegas knowing our little mutts were in great hands. She posted daily pictures of our doggies and they were a pleasure to receive, as we did miss them. Thank you Katie for keeping our minds at ease while we were on our trip! I think the dogs want to live with you now..... ;)
