About Marcia Jane

36 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
I love animals and have always felt a true connection with them. If you are on this site looking for an exceptional person to love and care for your pet while you are away, look no further!

My dog sitting services are special for many reasons. One being, that I work from home, which means that your pet will have a lot of attention, love, and comfort throughout the day. In addition, I provide plenty of exercise - walks and usually a fun excursion (weather permitting) - park, beach, hike, etc...Exercise is extremely important for your dog's health and well-being. Regular, engaging, and fun exercise can greatly increase your dog's quality of life, and even lengthen his or her life-span!

Another benefit to my service, is my unique training and dedication to safety. Many dog walkers and pet sitters unintentionally expose dogs to dangerous and/or stressful situations. I have been trained in pack management, canine communication and body language, and positive reinforcement dog training. I carefully select dogs for outings, and never take inappropriate groupings. Your dog's safety, comfort, and happiness are my number one concern. Despite the seriousness of predatory drift, many dog care professionals are not aware that a casual, uninformed pairing, can have sudden and catastrophic consequences. My safety precautions mean that you can enjoy your vacation, worry-free. I am also certified in Pet CPR and First Aid.

I also have experience caring for elderly animals and dogs with limited mobility. I adjust exercise routines to meet your dog's needs and pace, and do my best to make everyday a happy day for your dog. In addition, I have very gentle methods for giving medications, including subcutaneous fluids.

Though my training and experience is mostly with dogs, I also love visiting cats. I do not do any overnight cat-sitting, but I can schedule adequate time to go to your home, play with your cat, provide lots of affection and love, make sure there is fresh water and food, and anything else your pet might need. Prices for cat visits vary, depending on your cat's needs.

Lastly, but most importantly, I will give your pet as much love, affection, and comfort as they need. Many animals experience anxiety or sadness when they are apart from their humans. My ultimate goal is to make their lives as nice as can be during your absence. I love to travel, so I know how hard it can be to leave your loved ones behind. I endeavor to ease your mind, and give your dog a truly enjoyable dog vacay!

I look forward to meeting you and your pet.

Please note:
• Overnight stays are 24 hours, with a four hour grace period. If you need to leave your dog longer, a doggie day care fee of $55.00 will be charged.

• Also, I don't crate dogs. Some of my clients do, in their own homes, but understand that I don't crate anyone. If you require that your dog be in a crate while they are on dogvacay, then I am not the right person to host them. If your dog uses a crate for reassurance, I can take the crate in-house and leave the door open so they can go in and out as they please.
Thanks!

I can't believe it took me so long to write this review (well, I can because I never write reviews, but I must this time). My dogs had their best vacation ever! We received daily photos of their adventures far and wide. They learned better on and off leash manners and she even taught my puppy to sit as calmly as possible while his leash was put on. They were clearly tired, but well loved on return to us. Months later, they are still unbelievably excited every time someone packs a bag (because they think they might get to go on vacay).

Marcia is a great dog-sitter. She was flexible in setting up a meeting time and we were able to introduce our dog to hers before we dropped him off. Marcia sent us pictures of Taggart's "vacation" with her two dogs, and they looked like they were having a blast! We recommend Marcia highly.

Bouchon always loves staying with Marcia Jane. I always hope that she is available when I need a dog sitter!
Marcia is a wonderful pet, care-giver and always flexible. My dog was so happy at her house and go to do fun things like hikes and trips to the beach. Marcia (and her dogs) are wonderful and I highly recommend her services!
The experience with Marcia was great. She is a lovely woman who truly cares for her dogs as well and her visitors. Zoe adjusted nicely to her new surroundings while we were away. Marcia sent pictures and Zoe looked happy and well, especially on the many walks they took. We would definitely recommend Marcia.

My dog always loves staying with Marcia!
Marcia did a great job looking after our dog - took him for walks with her smaller dogs and gave him a great vacation!
Absolutely the best! Leaving my dog is aways hard, but Marcia Jane treated him like one of her own and sent me lots of photo updates. My pup couldn't have been happier. Highly recommend and I'll definitely use her again!
Marcia was wonderful. I needed someone to watch Luke for the day and Luke loved her immediately. She sent me pictures during his stay of their time playing at Redwood Groves and Luke was happy and worn out when he came home!
Marcia took care of our dogs this weekend and did a great job keeping them happy. All three dogs were walked, went hiking, got a chance to socialize and play and were thoroughly worn out by the end, which was awesome. Got plenty of pics and updates to ensure we were in the loop on how they were all doing.

Marcia looked after our dog over the holidays and we couldn't have been happier with the stay. She took our Cavalier King Charles on tons of long walks and trails and kept us in the loop the whole time with great pictures and updates. Thanks Marcia!
