About Sian

35 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
CR Pet Nanny offers kind, compassionate and safe in-you-home care, and/or day time walks while pet owners are at work, or as an alternative to boarding in kennels. No longer do you have to impose on family and friends while on vacation, on a day trip, away on business trips or recovering from illness or injury.
Through daily notes and social media I strive to keep clients updated on their pets' life while you are away, or simply how their daytime walk went. My main concern is the quality of life pets receive and that you, the owner, are not spending time worrying when you should be doing something else. I know! I've been there!
Although I get most requests for caring for dogs and cats while people travel for business or pleasure I also look after all living creatures including rabbits, birds, fish, guinea pigs, hamsters, snakes, goats, backyard chickens … basically all living creatures although admittedly i am not fond of rats.
I believe your animals are better off being at home and walked from home and back. This results in reduced stress and anxiety by being in their own territory, surrounded by familiar sights, scents and sounds.
Their routine is kept as close to normal as my schedule allows.

What the Pet Nanny offers YOUR PET

It greatly reduces risk of exposure to illnesses from other animals
They are not traumatized by travel to kennel and watching owner walk away while being left in a strange environment.
They will receive the exercise and potty breaks they need in order to keep them healthy and living longer.
They will receive lots of attention and loving from people who truly care as much about your pet as you do.
Training techniques re-enforced
They are happier and better behaved because they are receiving the attention they need.

What the Pet Nanny offers YOU.

You will not be inconvenienced or upset by transporting your pet.
You can mix and match length of visits to suit your pets needs and your budget
No long term commitment required. Even if you just need one visit while you take the family to Nanaimo for a day, we will give your pet the same love, care and devotion as we do a client going on a 3 week vacation.
You have the peace of mind knowing your pet is receiving the exercise, potty breaks and attention they require.
You do not have to impose on friends, neighbours or relatives who may forget to care for your pet.
While you are away, you can feel confident that your pet is in capable, caring hands.
Your home is made more secure by the crime-deterrent measures provided by our pet sitting service.
We provide other assistance like watering plants and bringing in the mail.

Even if you are not leaving home, there may be instances where we can be of service. Unusual working hours, going on a family trip or to a wedding for a day or illnesses may make it difficult to care for your pet. When those times arise, the Pet Nanny is just a phone call away, ready to provide assistance.

Based on availability, short notice same day (emergency) requests are accepted.

I am here to assist low and fixed income pet owners in special circumstances.

Sian LOVES animals. She had for many years a pet bakery in Campbell River and now makes treats constantly for her own dogs. Sian also had for many years a dog rescue organization called "Salvation Road." My first born dog, McGuire, was from her organization. Sian was constantly going into the U.S.A. and picking up dogs and bringing them across the border at her own expense in hopes to find them loving homes and escape being euthanized. Sian has saved likely hundreds of dogs in her work as an animal rescuer. Sian herself has many rescue dogs and cats and constantly is fostering pets in need of a temporary home. I know that she has been interested in starting up her bakery again for dogs and thinking about getting into dog grooming but needs to make a little bit of money for start up fees and this is a wonderful opportunity for her to play and love dogs while earning money to follow her dream of working in the pet services.

Sian is a great pet nanny! We had her come to our home to make things easier for our dogs and cat. We have a Saint Bernard, a Lab, and a toy poodle. On a family vacation, Sian sent us updates and photos of how the dogs were doing and they were really humorous, you could tell she loves her job and loves all the animals she meets. I think when we got home our dogs and our cat loved her more than us!! We have used her several times, and once on an emergency basis when our son was injured and we had to leave quickly to go to a hospital out of town. Not having to worry about our home security and our animals was a huge help during this difficult time. When we got home the next day she had even cooked and baked for us!
She is one of a kind.

Sian is an amazing communicator with dogs. She took my dog out for adventures and I had warned her that he was very skittish and nervous with everybody and I knew he needed exercise but it was very hard to walk him. After three walks he was wagging his tail and playing with her! I have an old dog too who is not very mobile. I joked that Angel was jealous that Buddy was going out and she wasn't so Sian took her out as well, in a doggy backpack so she could get some fresh air and get her feet on some grass. And she did this for no charge! She was instrumental in bringing Buddy out of his shell and while he still has some fear issues, he is much more sociable now on his walks.
