Hi! My name is Melissa, and I have been around dogs as long as I have been on this earth. They are a huge part of my heart and soul and you can be rest assured they will be loved, snuggled, and showered with attention while in my care.
My husband and I live in a small two bedroom apartment with our two-year old son and two Boxer/Lab girls. They are sisters, we rescued them as puppies in North Carolina while my husband was working in the Army. They do have big scary voices, but don't let that fool you, it is all just talk. They love being around other dogs, and have a funny little soft spot for little dogs. If your dog likes his or her space, they can take a hint. Otherwise I can guarantee they will all exhaust one another in play.
We have a small fenced and screened-in patio, and a medium-ish fenced in dog play area right outside our apartment. We are on the first floor, so you need not worry about any wise old dogs having to deal with stairs. We live in a gated community that is set up just right for a decent length walk without getting too far from the house. We are also about five miles from a very large dog park, which we frequently visit to make up for the smaller park in our neighborhood. We are also only a few miles from a hidden (but public) walking trail which we also frequent at. Depending on the weather and how the rest of the day has gone, walks there will range from 2 miles up to 12 miles, though we rarely take on 12 miles in the summer time.
My son and I are always home and we are very dependent on being at home in order to stay on schedule, or else we all miss our naps and that's no fun for anyone! My dogs have free roam of the house, yours can too. At night, our dogs sleep on one of our two couches, or sometimes they sneak into my sons room and sleep with him. It's also quite normal for me to find them sprawled out across the floor of my room. Yours are welcome to use the crate we have (it's very large) or bring your own, or if free-roam is what they are used to as well, that's great too! My dogs usually eat together, however I can separate for meals.
We tend to play things by ear here and go with the flow. The only deal-breaker is your pooch MUST get along with small children. Our son has been taught how to treat all animals, and even helps feed our two and walks the slower paced one (Sasha). He gives them hugs and kisses and brings them their toys and likes to sit next to them while watching a movie. However, he is two and doesn't always do the best thing. He can be loud and has his share of meltdowns. If you have any concerns about your dog around small children, this may not be the spot for you.
Here at our cozy home, we run on snuggling, being outdoors, and some really great pampering. We'd love to have you!!
