Although business like, this is a hobby for Scamp and my enjoyment and stimulation. I accept select, well socialized and reasonably trained dogs and always require a pre-placement
I'm retired and up early with my dog, a mini schnauzer. My routine is to take the dogs into the fenced side yard about 6 am then for a minimum 30-minute walk about 8 am and 6 pm with a last outing about 9 pm. In between there is lots of outdoor playtime. I have a 2.5-acre lot as do all the homes on my quiet residential road. I back onto 350 acres of fields. As an adult, I have owned a couple Weimaraners, a Great Dane, a Dalmatian and a Lab/greyhound in addition to a couple of rescue dogs and a few cats. I got my first Mini Schnauzer when my Lab/greyhound was middle-aged. When my Mini Schnauzer passed I got my current dog, Scamp. I'm not as active as I once was but my routines and activities are suitable for an active smaller dog. I accept larger dogs and they get adequate exercise. If they come when called, I can also play with them in the large back yard (which is 3/4 fenced and has the house between it and the front, which is not fenced). I make provisions for small dogs, like using my tractor and snow shoeing to make paths through the snow. I have involved myself in various dog classes and training, to socialize and work my dogs, to broaden or refresh my knowledge and because they are fun. My dog is a great joy to me and a primary focus of my day, as are visiting animals. I will only accept one family's pets at a time unless all animals are adequately known to me.
My adult daughter and her 2 cats live with me. The cats are gentle and playful with my dog. They do have a section of the house where they can stay but I won't knowingly take a cat aggressive dog.
I don't offer grooming but I do all my own dog's grooming including her teeth and nails and will take care of any immediate needs your dog has.

I'm doing this for Scamp's and my pleasure. I only accept friendly, totally house trained and reasonably other wise trained dogs. Vaccinations and an effective method of flea and parasite control are a must for your pet. Please confirm this when you arrange for a meet-and-greet.
I'm flexible regarding drop off time, but pick up is to be the same time of day as the scheduled drop off time or earlier. You may schedule a later pickup time for $5 per hour. If you're running late, please call and I will only charge daycare rates. In the case of extended stays, I normally offer an hour's leeway, more if I'm aware of particular circumstances. If you simply show up late, there is a $20 fee for up to 3 hours and $5 every hour after that. Since I turn away other customers once you book, I do not refund for early returns.

Your pets are never left alone until I know that they will be fine. I shop once a week and try to schedule appointments around any new bookings. Even then, I'm rarely gone for more than 3 hours. If I have the slightest concern, my adult daughter will stay with them.
You will receive a handout at your meet-and-greet but if you would like it in advance, please contact me with an email address and I will send it.
Be sure to write down anything that will help me provide the best care.
My method of dog management is non punitive. On the very rare occasion I need to physically intervene with an over excited dog, it would be a brief holding by the scruff of the neck.

Daycare: I will do occasional daycare for regular customers. $5 per hour, $20 minimum and $40 maximum.

The real test for placing any pet with someone is how well the pet is when they come back. Bryher was calm, quiet and relaxed (for him anyways) and that says it all. A big thanks Neil.
This was our first experience leaving our puppy overnight with anyone. We were very happy with the care that neil provided. It was a home away from home experience for Sable. Neil was great with keeping us updated throughout her 9 day stay with photos and messages. It was definitely a positive experience for sable and our family! Thank you Neil and scamper for making Sable's stay a great one! She will be back again!
Neil was a fantastic host for Pong! I felt very comfortable leaving Pong in his care and will definitely book again in the future. 5 star service!
This was a quick repeat visit. Kitkat was happy at her vacation and Neil was a great host as usual.
No worries at all leaving my pups with Neil and Scamp.
Neil and Scamp are excellent hosts. That's why we keep coming back. I know my two terriers are taken care of when we are away. They can run and play and feel like they are at home. Much nicer than being cooped up in a kennel facility.
Excellent dog sitter. Caring gentleman as good with your dogs as he is with his own. Nice clean environment with room for your dogs to exercise.
Neil is great! My guy always loves being at Neil's and actually gets excited when he sees that we are on our way there.
I cannot thank Neil enough for taking such great care of Lucy and accommodating my awkward schedule. I was able to book last minute and make changes to my pick up time as we went along. When we originally met Neil he was very warm and calming. Our usually skiddish dog seemed to take to him right away! He seemed un-phased that she was a puppy and would have required more attention than a regular dog. His house and backyard is a dog's paradise.

During her stay we received numerous photo updates as well as text messages if there was any questions. The photos were really nice to see her interacting so well with his dog. We don't have any other pets at home, therefore it was delightful to see her being so social! Lucy actually seemed sad when we had to take her home! She loved Neil's dog and could not have gotten more love and exercise while there. She was absolutely exhausted and happy when we picked her up. Neil was also more than accommodating with us potentially needing a drop off- although we ended up not taking advantage of this service, we greatly appreciate the option.

100% would book again. Worth EVERY penny to make sure your fur baby is in the hands of someone who cares vs. a kennel. Neil really knows what he is doing and takes his time with new house guests very seriously.
We trust Neil with our pup like we would a family member, Thanks Neil!
Our dog's stay at Neil's was everything I hoped it would be and more. This was our first time leaving our dog somewhere without us, and I have to admit I was really nervous. Neil eased my nerves with updates and photos of our dogs vacation. I couldn't be more happy with the results. I would recommend Neil in a heart beat, he truly will take care of your fur baby just like you would.
Thank you Neil!

Cinder always has a great time with Neil!
Thankyou Neil for providing Buddy with a kind and happy home while we were away. He was having a good time and was happy with you as a new friend. We will be booking again in the very near future. Thanks again. Doug and Sue
Once again Benny had an excellent stay with Neil and his companion Scamp. Great peace of mind when you know your pet is staying with Neil. Glad we were able to find him through your website.
Neil was fantastic with our Wheaton, Jackson. He was very attentive and his love of animals shows. Jackson will look forward to his next vacation with Neil very much !!

Thanks for taking good care of our boy.

Benny had a great time with Neil & Scamp & the regular updates from Neil were great as he sent us lots of great pictures which was really appreciated as this was Benny's first time away. Neil's passion for pets & their well being were evident from start to finish. Many thanks Neil.
Neil was a wonderful host to my babies, zoey and zipper. Scamp, was a lovely playmate for them both and I couldn't be happier with the service Neil provided. I will absolutely be taking them back for more vacation time; if he'll have them.
Thank again Neil
Wonderful host and location. Wide open spaces for the dogs.
Great host
Cinder always has fun at Neil's.
Great host, great location with lots of room
very happy with our experience. will definitely be a repeat client!!
Neil was AWESOME, he looked after my baby girl like she was his own.

She was well cared for and I would be pleased and happy to recommend him to EVERYONE...

Neil treated Lilee not like a dog, but like a member of his family, the same way shes treated like at home. She was not kenneled or locked up. She was given free roam of the house and yard and walked often.

Thank you so very very much Neil, You truly are a great vaycay for Lilee and when we go away again, I will be back for sure.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Trevor and Annette Porritt.
Excellent! See Review Below.
Neil and puppy Scamp were excellent hosts. I want to thank him for opening his home to us. We didn't have any concerns at all during our time away(9 days). He kept us updated daily via email with text and pictures.
Both of our dogs got plenty of exercise running around Neil's property. Trust me,JR terriers really like to run. And I know they both received lots of cuddle time when needed. They were both safe and sound in his care.
We would have no problems at all recommending Neil and Scamp as hosts. We are already planning to use him on our next trip. Its nice to know that DogVacay is available as an option for dog owners.
My dog had an amazing time with Neil and his dog, they seemed to have a grate time playing together and running around on his beautiful property! I think while being there he almost completely forgot about his separation anxiety and enjoyed his time. Great host, highly recommended!
Cinder had a great time. She didn't want to leave.
Neil was great with my dog. She enjoyed her stay. Neil has a great property for a large dog with lots of energy. His dog Scamp is a good natured small dog that gets along with bigger dogs and was a good companion for my dog. Overall, a great experience.
