House: I have a medium size, wrought Iron fenced yard with plenty of shade, and a short fenced back yard for small breeds. All pet guests would have their own quarters, and be restricted from any contact with our dogs until a formal introduction.
I have used the sit-means-sit training method with all my dogs, and always encourage good behavior with guests. I live 1 mile from BSU, and multiple parks where I typically exercise the dogs. I started doing this because I used a wonderful host, and have seen the emotional distress it causes my dogs when I put them in boarding kennels. There is nothing like having ease of mind while you're away, that you'll come back without any guilt of leaving the "kids" locked-up.
I work from home and a currently have one pup, although I have hosted and had other dogs throughout my life. I'm familiar with working breeds who need walks, socializing, playing chuck-it, and constantly moving with constructive positive activities. Opening my home would be a perfect way to pay it forward for the care my pets have received while I've been away.
