While you are at work, away on a business trip, or vacationing, I am more than happy to care for your pets. I have been providing pet sitting services on Rover since August 2012. I offer a complimentary meet and greet before your booking to become acquainted with you and your pets. This meet and greet is beneficial to ensure I am the right fit for you and your pets.
My name is Rebecca Roa and I am twenty-seven years old. I am a third-generation Deaf in my family and I am fluent in American Sign Language (ASL). I have residual hearing, however; I can speak clearly and communicate effectively with all individuals - this does not interfere with my abilities to care for pets whatsoever.
In May 2014, I completed my Masters in Mental Health Counseling at Gallaudet University, located in Washington, D.C. I am aiming to become an Animal Assisted Therapist, and for two years I have volunteered with People. Animals. Love. (PAL) as part of a Pet Visiting Team.
I just moved to Snellville, Georgia from St. Augustine, Florida and I am really enjoying the change of scenery here. I am currently working full time as a pet sitter!
I would like to open my home and yard to share with your pets. I am more than happy to provide your pets with whatever accommodations they need to become comfortable in an unfamiliar surrounding. Your pets will be given lots of love and attention as well as daily walks and exercise. I am usually only away from the house for 3-4 hours at the least to do errands. Because I just moved to Snellville, I currently live with my father (stay-at-home dad) and his wife (teacher at Atlanta Area School for the Deaf) along with my step-sister (seventeen years of age and a Senior at Brookwood High). Between us four, there is almost ALWAYS someone home so your pets will be getting quadruple the love and attention!
Your dogs will enjoy their stay in my non-smoking and drug-free home where I have a large fenced backyard where your dogs can get plenty of fun and exercise in a safe and secure environment. The dogs will ALWAYS be supervised when out in the yard and NEVER left unattended. I have a kiddie pool that is available to your dogs to cool off in - what fun! You can expect your dogs to have the same experience provide for my own. I also live in proximity to many walking trails which I often take my Ellie.
I have 1 dog (Ellie) and 4 cats. Interactions will be limited and supervised at all times. Please feel free to check out Ellie's profile for detailed information.
***I am more than willing to accommodate pets that require special care due to age, chronic illnesses, post-surgical recovery, and/or other medical reasons. I will treat your pets as my own and greatly understand the importance of your pets' needs. With me, your pets are in gentle, caring, and experienced hands!
My experience administering medication:
I am very comfortable in administering medications, due to my many experiences, such as: using an inhaler, giving pills (by mouth, in food, pocket pills, etc.), administering cream in the ears or on the body, eye/ear drops, etc. I do not have experience at this time with administering injections, however, I am willing to learn if you teach me!
I am also very familiar with Cerebellar Hypoplasia (a neurological disorder). One of my cats, Skittles, was diagnosed with this disorder. He passed away about 3 years ago due to Kidney Failure, and is missed very much.
What Rebecca would like to know about your dog:
It’s necessary to know about any special needs your pets may have, ranging from dietary restrictions to behavioral concerns. I am very accommodating, and with your help, will provide the best care possible for special needs.
Please include the following in your care instructions and/or inquiry:
- Allergies (food/environmental)
- Toy or treat restrictions
- History of destructive behavior
- History of reactivity (such as barking/lunging on leash, guarding food or toys, or uncontrollable excitement)
- History of separation anxiety
In case of an emergency, I would like to have your veterinarian's contact information (name, phone numbers, address) on hand.
I have a large fenced-in backyard with grass and trees that provide shades for lots of unleashed exercise. Your dogs will NEVER be left unattended when they are romping out in my backyard. I am often out there playing with them (fetch/tug of war), swimming in my pool, or reading. There is ALWAYS a bowl of fresh water with ice that is readily available for dogs to quench their thirst. I am able to accommodate pets of all shapes, sizes, and temperaments. If needed, I can provide a separate play area/hangout spot for small dogs, senior/fragile dogs, or dogs that prefer human companionship only.
I am also always visiting different trails in the area - if your dogs like that, I'll be more than happy to bring them along! I enjoy early morning and evening strolls around the neighborhood. If your dogs prefer quiet areas, there are plenty of other routes available to suit their needs. our dogs will get a lot of exercise, which makes for tired but happy dogs at the end of the day! Of course, my walks is dependent on the age of your dogs and level of energy and stamina.
Depending on your dogs, we can play tug of war, fetch, go swimming, or on a hike. My dog, Ellie, loves play dates. If you are interested in socializing your dogs at your home or mine, I am more than happy to bring her along to our Meet and Greet, to see how they get along.
My style of care is completely based on your needs and the needs of your dogs. I am aware that some dogs are active and playful while some like to nap and relax. I am prepared to accommodate any temperament, age, or activity level, in addition to supplying you with daily updates and photos upon request.
Extra house-sitting services:
I am able to bring in the mail, water your plants, leave a detailed journal (notes about your pets for each visit), send you an email or text message with an attachment of your pets, and if you feed alley cats, I would happily do that as well.
