About Sheila

25 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
Your home away from home for your beloved pet. Cody and I absolutely love having other dogs here and your pup will be loved and cared for like one of the family.
I have had dogs of my own for 25 years. I have been taking care of friend's dogs as well as fostering dogs of all shapes, sizes and ages for the past four years, so have a wealth of experience dealing with all different personalities and needs. I am certified in animal first aid and CPR.
I live in a single family home with a fully fenced back garden so your pup will be able to run around the garden or just laze on the deck while we are home. They will usually get two walks each day and have numerous opportunities to go out in the garden under supervision. I never let them out unattended. I often take my dog and the fosters to Cabin John Park as well as on shorter hikes with me, so if your pup loves the great outdoors, let me know and we will try to fit that in.
I am a teacher but have quite flexible hours which enable me to get home at lunch times to give the dogs potty breaks. I am home during school holidays as well as at weekends.
Cody is a rescue dog from City Dogs Rescue. He was my first foster and never left! He is now five years old and loves having friends of all shapes and sizes come to stay. He is amazingly patient, and loves to play with his friends, but also understands when they need their space. He is amazing with smaller dogs despite his size. He has the run of the house and sleeps with me so if that is what yours is used to, that's fine. If they are crate trained, have restrictions on where to sleep, or space restrictions, just let me know. I am fine administering medications should your pup need them.
You can rest assured your pup will receive the best care possible here with me.
Your dog must be up to date on all shots including bordetella. I recommend they have a canine flu vaccination too.

Sheila was a wonderful host for our Great Pyrenees. She provided daily posts and updates. It was very clear that our pet was well cared for and was happy. It was most appreciated!
The dogs were very well cared for. They ate properly and didn't add weight, appeared very happy in their new temporary home, and had good human and dogs company.
We were informed daily of their whereabouts and Sheila too care to send us pictures at the end of every day.
Sheila was wonderful! I kept both my dogs with her for two weeks which is the longest we have left them with anyone. We got daily updates with pictures and they seemed so happy and and at ease at her place. Would highly recommend her!
Sheila sent many updates and pictures and it was wonderful. She knew I was nervous about leaving Campbell for the first time and she did everything to make me feel comfortable about it.
Campbell is very happy and healthy after his stay. Sounds like his new best friend is Sheila's dog Cody!
Campbell will be coming back next time we are away :)
Tilly definitely enjoyed her vacation with Sheila! After a full week of playing and romping with Sheila's pup, Cody, Tilly came back home happy and exhausted... Just the way we like her! Sheila is wonderful and sent us email updates everyday with pictures, so we knew Tilly was in good hands while we were out of the country. Tilly can't wait to go back next time!
Sheila is absolutely wonderful! Easy to work with on exchange times, perfect amount of picture and message updates, and the pups are so happy with her!
Sheila was absolutely wonderful! Our 10 y/o lab can be very shy and has major separation anxiety, burn when I picked her up she was happy as a clam! And Sheila'a regular updates and pictures put me at ease as well! Sheila's dog Cody is also excellent with other dogs and just fine with our sometimes nervous/fearful pup. Will definitely be using Sheila next time we are in need of a dog sitter!
I don't know what we did without Sheila in our lives! Our husky/german shepherd mix, Calli, stayed with her three times this month and LOVED it! Usually when we bring her to daycare she cries and has separation anxiety, but not with Sheila. She RUNS to the front door to see Sheila and her awesome dog, Cody! Sheila sends pictures every day of Calli enjoying her vacation, which allows us to enjoy ours :) Sheila is TRULY the best!
Sheila and her sweet dog, Cody, took wonderful care of our rambunctious puppy. She was walked, played with and loved. And we loved getting email updates (with pictures!) of her stay. When we got her home she was happy and tired. Thank you!!
I am so glad to have found someone like Sheila to take care of our Luna. Besides keeping Luna fine and entertained, Sheila knew how to deal with Luna's special diet, related to a gastrointestinal issue. Definetly, Luna had a great time swimming in the backyard pool and playing with Sheila's pet Coddy. We even received daily update - pics & videos - from Sheila. We couldn't be more satisfied. I will recomend her to my friends.
Our dog felt immediately at home with Sheila and her dog Cody, who by the way, knew exactly what to do when Bronx arrived feeling a little anxious. Sheila is 100% a dog person and so is her home, set up with toys and doggy beds (almost) everywhere. I dropped off Bronx knowing that he would be loved and enjoy himself. Thanks again Sheila for taking great care of Bronx.
Luna had a great weekend with Sheila. The fenced backyard is a plus for keeping our Jack Russel active. We return home from our trip a few hours earlier and Sheila managed to attend us just after contacting her. Definitely Luna will stay there again.
Everything worked out just perfect! This was the first time ever stay-away from home for our nine month old Airedale, Terry.
When he met the resident dog, Cody, they immediately got along so well with each other as if they had been friends all their life.
After we came home with Terry, he fell asleep immediately for several hours - happy exhaustion!
Our Airedale is quite active and full of energy but Sheila is so experienced that a bouncing 70 pound puppy was no handling problem for her. She had reliably adminstered the medicine he had to take at the time, and we got our dog back in one happy and exhausted piece. A happy and tired Airedale, what else could you wish for!?
Definitely recommended!! Thank You, Sheila!
Sheila is terrific. She's was responsive while we made arrangements and was very patient with our puppy Rufus. Her dog Cody is a total sweetheart and a perfect playmate for Rufus. The yard is great for running and playing. An overall great experience.
Sheila was wonderful!!! Our dog Winnie was so happy-go-lucky when we picked her up. I think she loved spending time with Sheila's baby Cody. They were thick as thieves. :) Thank you for taking such great care of our little girl. We'll be back!
Sheila was just fabulous with our peek-a-poo, Nala. She sent daily updates and numerous pictures each day to keep us informed on what they were up to. Nala loved Sheila's big backyard and had a great time at her house. Sheila understands how important your dog is to you and takes care of her like her own. She has years of experience fostering dogs and this really showed with how she cared for Nala. I will always choose Sheila as a first choice for Nala's caregiver on our next trips. Thanks for taking such good care of our baby!
Sheila was wonderful with Red and posted so many pictures for us. He had a wonderful stay and seemed to really enjoy her dog. He went on many walks and looked happy. I think he is missing his new friend, Cody. I highly recommend Sheila.
